- Resided in Douglas, Ontario. Shot & died from a gunshot wound on February 7, 1860 by a constable named Hector McKay for refusing to appear as a witness against his daughter, who had been indicted for scalding a dog belonging to Mr. R.R. (Robert Robertson) Smith of Eganville. McKay was found guilty of murder & sentenced to be hung on June 12, 1860. (On May 21, 1860
McKay's sentence was commuted to 7 years in prison)
