- Miriam DePree Strozier, 106, of Greenville, Georgia died at her home January 13, 2011. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 15, 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church, Greenville, Ga.
Mrs. Strozier was born January 13, 1905, daughter of William L. and Grace L. DuPree. She was a graduate of Marietta (Ga) High School, GNIC (now GC&SU Milledgeville) and the Atlanta Conservatory of Music. She taught music for a number of years and used her talents as pianist and organist for over 50 years at Greenville United Methodist Church. She also played for numerous weddings, receptions and even for a dance class. She also worked as bookkeeper for Greenville Drug Company for a number of years.
Mrs. Strozier was very dedicated to her family, her church and her friends. She had an uncanny ability to accept whatever life handed her with a positive attitude. This came from her deep faith in her God. "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine" seemed to have been written for her.
She is survived by two daughters, Anne Threadgill, Greenville, Ga.;Lee (Laney) Ellis, Saluda, NC and a daughter-in-law Carol Hendricks Strozier, Manchester, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Terry Strozier, Jr. and son Terry Strozier III.
Other survivors include six grandchildren: Miriam (Gene) Smith; Allen (Christie) Threadgill of Greenville; Mary Lee (Greg) Clements,Statham; Russell(Harriet) Gentry, Decatur; Elaine Ellis, Ashville, NC; Richard (Lisa) Strozier, Lawrenceville; Mark (Jennifer) Strozier, Waverly Hall; Tracy (Amy) Strozier, Dothan, AL. Great-Grandchildren are: Robby (Tracy)Strickland, Montgomery; Stacy (Dean) Johnson, Fayetteville; Ashley Threadgill, Newnan; Geoffrey Threadgill, Norfolk, VA; Will and Thomas Clements, Statham; Brian Gentry, Decatur; Luke Ellis, Ashville; Briant and Douglas Strozier, Lawrenceville; Paul, Sarah, Molly and Luke Strozier, Waverly Hall; Sam Strozier, Dothan. Five great-great-grandchildren: Brandon and Kahlen Threadgill, Sloan and Seth Strickland and Robin Johnson.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Greenville United Methodist Church.
