Notes |
- Russell was one of seven crew members on Halifax JD210 VR-S also known as "Happy Valley Sally". On the night of Sep 5/6, 1943, they were part of a six hundred plus bomber stream targeting Mannheim and nearby Ludwigshaven. During the raid, their plane was brought down; it crashed on the east bank of the river Altrhein, 3 km west of Huttenheim.
- The Town of Carleton Place, Ontario remembered Sergeant James by naming a street in his honour.
