- Frederick A. Nichols Jr., 87, of Marlborough, husband of the late Louise (Coleman) Nichols, died Saturday Nov. 25th at Marlborough Health Care. Born July 18, 1930 in Middletown he was the son of the late Frederick and Beulah (Goff) Nichols. Frederick and Louise moved to Marlborough in 1957. He was retired from the State of Connecticut Highway Department and also from Coca Cola in East Hartford. Frederick served his country in the Army National Guard during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Marlborough, the East Hampton VFW Post #5095, and a life member of the Marlborough Volunteer Fire Department. He was a lifelong camper and a member of the Nutmeg Winnebago Club. He is survived by his three sons Frederick A. Nichols III and his wife Maureen of VA., Brian C. Nichols of Marlborough, Kevin E. Nichols and his wife Melissa of Moodus, his daughter Karen N. Cole of Marlborough, sisters-in-law Barbara Roberts and husband Zane, Jean Coleman, cousin Elaine Bentley, seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton on Tuesday Nov. 28, from 6:00PM until 8:00PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday Nov. 29, at 11:00AM in the Spencer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Marlboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Roy B. Pettengill Ambulance Assoc.
