- Howard James Babbitt Sr., 63, of Barton Street, Millerton, died Tuesday, March 16, at Sharon Hospital. A resident of Millerton for 13 years, Mr. Babbitt was the owner of New England Cleaners in Millerton. He formerly lived in East Greenbush. He was a member of the Neighborhood Cleaners Association and the Millerton Methodist Church. Born August 27, 1918 in East Hampton, Conn., he was the son of Wilbert and Annie Abbey Babbitt. He married Naomi Roosa in Simsbury, Conn, on September 20, 1941. She survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Babbitt is survived by a son, H. James Babbitt Jr., of Millerton; two daughters, Mrs. Karen Delia Rocco of Troy and Heather Babbitt of Millerton; two brothers, Marshall Babbitt of Simsbury and Wilbur Babbitt of East Granby, Conn.; a sister, Mrs. Alice Bogus of Simsbury; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services were held Saturday, March 20 at the Valentine Funeral Home, Millerton, with Rev. Frederick Stimson officiating. Burial will be in Irondale Cemetery, Millerton, at the convenience of the family.
