- Bonnie Patterson Drayse, 78, of Ogdensburg, died peacefully in her home on November 25, 2013. She was surrounded by family.
Bonnie was born in Ogdensburg, on September 5, 1935 to Howard Patterson and Mary (Stearns) Patterson. After graduatiing from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1953, she moved to New York City to attend St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated from St. Luke's and received her R.N. license in 1956. She practiced nursing in New York City, Potsdam, NY, and Ogdensburg, NY.
Bonnie was predeceased by her husband Paul Drayse of Saranac Lake, NY, in 1993. They were married on December 21, 1957 in Ogdensburg. They lived in Albany and Potsdam before settling in Ogdensburg.
She is survivied by her sons, Mark Drayse of Los Angeles, CA and Eric Drayse of Ogdensbug; daughters Mary Anne Hankla of Madison, VA and Dianne Drayse Alonso of Ogdensburg; grandchildren Dianna Taylor of Charlottesville, VA, Matthew Hankla of Richmond, VA and Roberto Alonso of Hamilton; great-grandchild Julian Alonso of Hamilton; sister Elizabeth (Betty) Cassidy of Saratoga Springs; brothers Thomas Patterson of Ogdensburg, and William Patterson of East Aurora; cousin Patricia (Pat) Armstrong of Newtown, CT; daughter-in-law Rebecca Drayse of Los Angeles, CA; sons-in-law Paul Hankla of Madison, VA and Jaime Alonso of Ogdensburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Bonnie enjoyed reading, knitting, and gardening. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished time with family. The grace and dignity with which she lived her life remains a part of us all.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 30 at 11 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, 423 Ford St., Ogdensburg. Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 29, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the Frary Funeral Home, 515 Caroline St., Ogdensburg.
