  • Notes
    • Daniel R. Perry, 50, of Holtville, California passed away at his home on March 10, 2014.

Daniel was born in Flint, Michigan on October 4, 1963 to LeeRoy and Lois Perry. He spent all of his childhood years in Michigan where he loved to hunt, fish, camp and trap in the woods surrounding his home with his lifelong friend, Dennis Larner.

Daniel graduated from Kearsley High School in 1981 and enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on June 24, 1982. He earned the rank of Lance Corporal and completed tours in Japan, Korea and Beirut. Daniel was honorably discharged from the Marines on June 24, 1985 but forever remained a Marine. He moved to Imperial Valley in the same year (1985) and worked in Communications for the U.S. Border Patrol until deciding to fulfill a lifelong goal and enter the medical field. He graduated from the Imperial Valley Nursing program in 2005, an accomplishment that made him and his family very proud. Daniel worked for Pioneers Memorial Hospital as an emergency room nurse before moving on to work for the California Department of Corrections at Centinela State Prison, Imperial, CA.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Kerbyson Perry and father, LeeRoy Perry.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Zaragoza Perry; sons, Navarre Perry and wife, Monica and Derek Perry and wife, Lizette, all of Imperial, CA; his beloved daughter, Marina Perry of El Centro, CA; and one grandchild, Isobella Gonzalez. Daniel is also survived by his brother, Michael Perry (Linda) of Port Richey, Florida; sisters, Linda Winegardner (Scott) of Lansing, Michigan and Patricia Travis (Robert) of Columbia, Tennessee; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

A memorial service will be held honoring Dan on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 6 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary, 1975 South 4th Street, El Centro, California. Pastor Peter Mallinger will officiate. A private military burial will be held at Miramar National Cemetery at a later date.
The Perry and Zaragoza families would like to express their gratitude for the prayers and support of friends and family during this time; we are blessed.

"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love Him". 1 Corinthians 2:9
