    • David Forrest Leffingwell July 17, 1930 - November 22, 2009 NORWICH - David Forrest Leffingwell, 79, loving husband of 25 years to Roberta (Hafner) Leffingwell, passed away at Harrington Court in Colchester on Sunday, November 22, 2009 following a brief illness. David was born on July 17, 1930; he was the son of the late Frederick A. and Annie (Holmes) Leffingwell. He attended Norwich Public Schools and graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1949. David proudly served in the U. S. Army from 1950-1952; he was a Mason belonging to the Somerset St. James Lodge #34 A.F. & A.M. and the Sphinx Shriners. After retiring from General Dynamics, he owned and operated One Hour Cleaners in Norwich; after selling the business he drove for various newspapers delivering the paper and retired in 2004 from the Hartford Courant. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and flowers. David is survived by his wife Roberta Leffingwell of Norwich; three daughters, Kimberly Leffingwell-Brothers, Dawn Laffingwell-Tate and her husband John and Deborah Leffingwell-West and her husband James; eight grandchildren, two of whom he thought a lot of, Michael Christopher Tate and Hunter David George Brothers; his special niece, Linda Sears of Factoryville, PA and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Virginia Peckman and his brothers, Frederick Leffingwell and Donald Leffingwell. In respect of David's wishes there will be no services. Donations in his memory may be made to Harrington Court - Genesis Health Care, 59 Harrington Court, Colchester, CT 06415 or Vitas Hospice, 255 Pitkin St., East Hartford, CT 06108 or W. W. Backus Hospital 326 Washington St., Norwich, CT 06360. The Church and Allen Funeral Home has been entrusted with David's care. Mrs. Leffingwell would like to thank Steven Curland, MD, Floors A-4 & A-2 at the William Backus Hospital, everyone on the East and West Wings at Harrington Court, and Vitas Hospice for the wonderful care and support they gave David while he was in their care.
