- Peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital Charles St. site, with her family by her side on Thursday, January 11th, 2007 at the age of 83 years. Beloved wife of the the late Charles Veley (SD&G Highlander). Loving mother of Kenneth Veley of Brockville, Linda Harper (fiance Tim Hepburn) of Seeleys Bay and Carol Veley of Brockville. Fondly remembered by her daughter-in-law Lorna McDonell (friend Ted Curnock). Dear grandmother of Chris Veley (Kim), Heather Brohm (Scott), Cynthia Veley (Jamie Laidlaw), Sean Veley (Melissa), Penny Harper (fiance Shawn Foley) and great grandmother of Melanie Veley, Emma Brohm, Kayleigh and Evan Laidlaw, Kaitlyn Veley and Rhailynne Foley. Also survived by her siblings in England Gladys Batson, Margie Parrett, Ruth Jarvis, Pauline Collins, Brenda Griffin, John Gardner, Dorothea Perry and by a sister-in-law Phyllis Gardner as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a son in infancy, a brother George Gardner, a sister Edith Barry and and by her son-in-law Roger Harper.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A ceremony in celebration of Dorothy's life will be held in the chapel on Tuesday at 11am followed by interment at New Dublin Cemetery. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged. Members of the Lyn Rebekah Lodge will hold a memorial tribute on Monday at 7 pm.
