- Helen E. (Stevens) Brennan, 89, of East Long-meadow, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Springfield to the Late Herbert and Helen (Cordes) Stevens, she resided in Springfield most of her life before moving to East Longmeadow 15 years ago. Helen was the beloved wife of the late Paul E. Brennan, Sr., who passed away in 1979. She was a sales assistant, for over 25 years, at the former Steiger's Department Store in the Eastfield Mall in Springfield. Helen is survived by her 3 children, Carol S. Miner of Newtown, CT, Paul E. Brennan, Jr., of Sparta, TN, and Joanne Brennan of Springfield; her 7 grandchildren, Lori Wadman, Michael Hurst, Susan Miner, Paul Brennan, III, Thomas Hurst, Kirstin Joyce, and Edward Miner; 7 great grandchildren, Kathryn, Brian, Joseph, Emily, Abigail, Samuel, and Kalli; and 1 great-great grandson, Owen. Helen's funeral service will be held on Monday, Feb. 5, at 11:30 a.m. in Byron Funeral Home, 1858 Allen St., Springfield. Burial will be at a later date in Springfield Street Cemetery in Agawam. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc.
