They have two daughters, Judith Jensen Shadle and Roxanne Jensen Powers and four grandchildren, Randy Shadle, Susan Shadle Oster, Robin Powers Kinning and Nicole Powers. There are also six great-grandchildren surviving. Herman was predeceased by granddaughter Nicole Powers and his four siblings, Lawrence, Francis, Elmer and Edna (Woodley). Herman was co-founder of Golden Sun Feeds in 1925 with his father and brother Lawrence. During his many years in the feed manufacturing business which terminated in 1971, he served the industry in many ways: director and vice chairman of the American Feed Manufacturers Association for 11 years; member of the Defense Advisory Committee to the Department of Agriculture; founder and director of Iowa Independent Feed Dealers Association; past officer and director of Western Feed and Grain Association, vice president and director of John Morrell & Co. 1960-71; and officer and director and Senior Executive Committee member of Continental Western Industries. His local activities included member of the First Presbyterian Church, former member and director of Holy Family Hospital, past president of Estherville Rotary Club, Estherville Golf and Country Club, member of Masonic Lodge and Estherville Elks Club. He has also been active in many organizations and activities in the Iowa Great Lakes area where he and Mrs. Jensen have resided for the past 34 years.
