- Ruth Edgerton, age 92, the widow of Alfred R. Edgerton died in the Bridgeport Health Center on Monday, October 24, 2005. She was a lifelong Bridgeport resident. During World War II she was a "Rosie the Riveter" working on the Corsairs at Chance-Voight. During her lifetime, she worked as a Nurse's Assistant in the Children's Ward at the Margaret Ford Cottage. She is survived by her son, Fred Pitt, Jr. of Milford; one son-in-law, Justin Wallenta of Bridgeport; four grandchildren, Brian Wallenta of Bridgeport, Lori Gregory of FL; Fred Pitt, III of AZ and Michael Pitt of Milford; three great-grandchildren, Tim and Jennifer Gregory and Michael Pitt,Jr and two great-great granddaughters, Megan Nicole and Samantha Gregory. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lillian Wallenta, one brother and one sister. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Shaughnessey Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road, Fairfield with the Rev. Alyssa Vitas officiating. Interment will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
