- BYERS, Thomas R.E.: A resident of Chatham, Thomas Richard Elwood Byers died surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at his residence at the age of 63. Born in North Bay, son of the late Levi and Agnes (McConnell) Byers. Beloved husband of Carolyn Rae (Jensen) Byers. Loving father of Jeff Byers and his fiancé Monica of Oshawa, Jason Byers and his wife Mindy of Georgia and Joel Byers and his wife Ramona of Alberta. Grandfather of Ben and Deanna. Brother of Gladys Masson, Wilda Byers, Violet Hazelwood, Wilburn Byers, Sam (Ethel) Byers, Gwen (Clarence) Hazelwood, Marjorie Trainer, and predeceased by Evelyn Byers, Greta Bayliss and Andy Byers. Brother-in-law of the late Tom Masson, Eric Hazelwood, Hector Bayliss and Isobel Byers. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Thomas retired from the MTO after more than 25 years of service. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday from 2:00-4:30 p.m. & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2007 from the Funeral Home with Mr. Gerald Lonsway and Mr. Kevin Palmateer officiating. Interment Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. The Byers Family would like to express their appreciation to the V.O.N. and to their friends and family for the excellent care that Thomas received and for all of their support.
