Beloved husband of Eleanor Mahan Tobin; loving father of Michael (Annie), Eleanor (Jerome) Raggett, Cathleen (Thomas) Miller, Mark (Carol) Tobin, Jean (Edward) Villalva, Ann (David) McInnes, Sheila (Owen) McKannay and Lisa Tobin; grandfather of 22 and great-grandfather of two. Born in 1917 in Chicago and raised in San Francisco, attended St. Monica's School and St. Ignatius, graduated from UC Berkeley and received his M.D. degree from Louisiana State University. A dedicated physician for over 40 years; a member of the American Medical Association, the Academy of Allergy and the Presidio Golf Club. Friends and relatives are cordially invited to a Funeral Mass to be held at St. Dominic's Church, Bush & Steiner Sts, on Wednesday, January 18 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Dominic's Renovation Fund.

    Eleanor Mahan Tobin Wife of the late Dr. John E. Tobin, Jr., died peacefully at home on March 21, 2007. Eleanor, the daughter of Dr. Eugene and Alma Meherin Mahan, was a native and life-long resident of San Francisco. She will be missed by her children, Michael (Annie) Tobin, Eleanor (Jerome) Raggett, Cathleen (Thomas) Miller, Mark (Carol) Tobin, Jean (Edward) Villalva, Ann (David) McInnes, Sheila (Owen) McKannay and Lisa Tobin; her 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Eleanor is survived by her sisters, Mavis Mahan Cain of San Rafael, Jean Mahan (Nelson C. Sr.) Barry of Larkspur; and 12 nieces and nephews. Born in 1918, Eleanor attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart in San Francisco and graduated from UC Berkeley. She was dedicated to her husband, her family and her community. Eleanor particularly enjoyed her associations with her Pi Phi sisters and her time golfing and playing bridge at the Presidio Golf Club. Friends and relatives are invited to the Funeral Mass at St. Dominic's Church, Bush and Steiner Streets, on March 27th at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Dominic Building Fund or the Convent of the Sacred Heart-Tobin Scholarship Fund.

    Robert C. Selfridge, Formerly of Tupper, Dies Suddenly Monday

    Robert C. Selfridge, 77, a resident for many years of Tupper Lake, died very suddenly Monday afternoon about 2 o'clock at his home at Deerland, Long Lake.
    He had been under treatment for a heart ailment for several years, but had remained active until his death. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 1:30 at Long Lake Methodist Episcopal Church and interment was in the family plot at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Saranac Lake.
    He was born at North Argyle, N.Y. on August 17, 1870, the son of James and Elizabeth Cuthbert Selfridge, and was married at Saranac Lake to Eliza McClelland. The family moved to Tupper Lake in 1914, and Mrs. Selfridge died here in 1917.
    Mr. Selfridge was in the employ of the New York Central (illegible two lines) Maintenance of Way Employee. About 18 years ago he moved to Long Lake, where he was married a second time in 1930 to Annie Scott Plumley, who survives. She has been confined to Mercy General hospital here by illness since last November.
    Mr. and Mrs. Selfridge operated Plumley's Camp, one of the leading summer resorts on Long Lake, until about two years ago, when they sold the property.
    Surviving, besides his wife, are one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Dorothy) Kennedy of Sackets Harbor, N.Y.; one son, Robert Selfridge of Altmar, N.Y.; four brothers; Ransom Selfridge of Ganesvoort, N.Y.; Charles and Frank Selfridge of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; and Chauncey Selfridge, North Hartford, N.Y.; also four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
    Funeral arrangements were made at the Deshaw Funeral Parlors here.

    Last Rites Conducted for R.C. Selfridge

    Interment services were held yesterday afternoon in Pine Ridge Cemetery for Robert C. Selfridge, 77, former resident of Saranac Lake who died suddenly Monday afternoon at his home at Deerland, Long Lake.
    Mr. Selfridge was born at North Argyle on August 17, 1870, son of James and Elizabeth Cuthbert Selfridge. He came to Saranac Lake to reside while an employee of the New York Central railroad.
    He was married in this village to Eliza McClelland who passed away in 1917. Later he moved to Tupper Lake and then Long Lake where he married Annie Scott Plumley in 1930.
    For a number of years he and his wife operated Plumley's Camps, a leading summer resort at Long Lake. Funeral rites were conducted at 1:30 p.m. yesterday in the Long Lake Methodist Church.
