Jane McKiernan Lawton 82, of Wethersfield, wife of the late Sherwood E. Lawton entered into the Lord's embrace (January 1, 2007) at home. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late John McKiernan and Mary McKiernan Schultz, she attended local schools, graduating from Bulkeley High School. Jane shall be remembered as a caring and loving mother, grandmother and friend. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family, taking pride in everyone's accomplishments. Sharing in their loss are her sons; Michael Lawton and his wife Judith of Newington, Thomas Lawton and Aileen Mazzeo of South Windsor, Shawn Lawton and his wife Laura of Columbia, Patrick Lawton of East Hartford; her daughters; Linda Poulin of Coventry, and Mary Jane Kiro and her husband Peter of Goffstown, NH; also her grandchildren, Jessica Poulin, Ryan Poulin, Kristin Kiro, Kory Kiro, Kevin Kiro, Michael Lawton, Sarah Lawton, Kathryn Lawton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 6, at 8:15 a.m. from Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, 160 Main St, Hartford. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives may call, Friday January 5, between 4-7 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests friends to consider a memorial donation to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center Foundation, Inc, 12 Charter Oak Place, Hartford, CT, 06106.

Mrs. Ida Platt Banning, 94, of Chestnut Street, Ivoryton, widow of William Otis Banning, died Tuesday in Meadowbrook Convalescent Home in Middetown after a long illness. Born in Westbrook, she lived in Ivoryton the last 73 years. She was a member of the Westbrook Congregational Church.
She leaves two sons; Everett Banning and Fred Banning, both of Ivoryton; and two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Riggio and Mrs. Harold Duffy, both of Ivoryton; seven grandchildren. A private funeral will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Cypress Cemetery, Westbrook. There are no calling hours. Robinson and Wright Funeral Home, Main Street, Centerbrook, is making the arrangements.
