JOHNSTON Esther Maude — Mrs. Esther Johnston died Monday January 8 2001 at Eastholme Powassan in her 87th year. Esther (Byers) was predeceased by her husband Charles (Bert) Bertram Johnston. She was the loving mother of Bert Johnston (Marg) of Callander, Jack Johnston (Barb) of Nipissing, Betty Baker (Elwood) of Taylor BC, June Daniher (Gary) of Callander, Sheila Hummel (Bruce) of Nipissing, Mary Bradley (Brandt) of Bonfield, Elaine Johnston of Nipissing and predeceased by sons Donald and Eugene. A loving grandmother of 20 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Esther was the dear sister of Alex Byers of Powassan and the late Mary Turcotte, Bill Byers, Alex Byers, Levi Byers, Frances Radkey, Enos Byers, Eliza Grawbarger and Irvin Byers. The family will receive visitors a the Paul Funeral Home in Powassan (724-2024) today, Tuesday January 9, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Lloyd Johnston on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Spring Interment Nipissing Cemetery If desired donations may be made to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation in lieu of flowers.
