- James F. Sibbersen, 75, of Lower Allen Twp. and formerly of Fairview Twp. died Wednesday May 6, 2009 in Select Specialty Hospital, Harrisburg.
He retired in 1988 as an Inventory Management Specialist from the former SPCC, Hampden Twp., PA. Jim began his career in 1962 at the Electronics Supply Office, Great Lakes, IL as an Inventory Manager before relocating to SPCC in 1974. Prior to this, he taught English at Valparaiso University, IN from 1959 to 1961. He earned his B.A. from the School of Literature, Science and the Arts at the University of Michigan and earned his M.A. in English from the Rackham School of Graduate Studies at the University of Michigan. Additionally, he was an Army veteran serving in Germany during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955.
He had a great love of literature and was an avid book collector. He enjoyed Karaoke and was affectionately known as "Old Jim". Jim was a life member of Fidelity United Lodge #513, F&AM, MI.
Jim was born in Allegan, MI to the late Merrill E. and Ruth (Minar) Sibbersen and was preceded in death by a son Eric C. Sibbersen. He is survived by his wife Janet L. (Belshaw) Sibbersen; three daughters, Anne K. Gallaher and husband Stephen of Mechanicsburg, Kristin E. Morris and husband James of Indianapolis, IN and Karen J. Ulrich and husband Gary of Mechanicsburg; a sister Joyce Alexander and husband Jerry of Greenville, SC; eight grandchildren, Jessica Manning and husband Jason, Megan Burrus and husband Matt, Zachary Ulrich, Carrie Beth Ent and husband Michael, Kaitlin Gallaher, Daniel Morris, Stephen Morris and Joseph Morris; two great grandchildren, Ryan and Josh Burrus; and a niece Donna (Alexander) Colwell and husband Eddie of Atlanta, GA.
A visitation with family and friends will be held on Sunday May 17, 2009 from 2-4 pm in the Bethany Village Community Room, Wesley Drive, Mechanicsburg.
