- POITRAS, Joyce (née Galloway) - 1928-2013 We are deeply saddened to announce that on September 15, 2013, at the age of 84 years, after a valiant struggle and with a very brave heart, Joyce passed away, surrounded by her loving family. Dearly beloved wife of the recently deceased Gerard Poitras and departed daughter Caroline (Robert Laniel), She will be deeply missed by her surviving daughters Susan (Marcel Charlebois) and Joanne (Jacques Goyette), her son Rene (Linda McCartney), her grandchildren Jeff Laniel, Jean Laniel, Angela Poitras, Kimberley Goyette, Jennifer Goyette, Amy Ripley and her 13 great grandchildren. Joyce is predeceased by her father Samuel Galloway and mother Harriet (Lough) Galloway. She is survived by her three sisters: Edna Grant, Dorlene Guindon and Judy Farmer, and predeceased by her siblings: Ronald Galloway, Annie Galloway, Jean Scharf, Glennis Levesque, Wilbert Galloway, Clint Galloway, Ivan Galloway, Elmer Galloway and John Galloway. Joyce was a very warm, loving and nurturing mother. A sweet and charming lady, she will be missed by all those who knew her. Mom - you left us a bouquet of beautiful memories. Wishing God could have spared you, if just for a few more years. Special thanks to all those at the Cardiac Care Unit of the General Hospital for helping mom and family members through this difficult time and to the Landmark Court Retirement Residence for all the warm and wonderful care they gave Joyce over the past year.
