Sobolewski died peacefully Friday (December 6, 2002) at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown in the company of her family. She was born in East Hampton, Nov. 10, 1931, daughter of the late John and Jennie (Banning) Peterson, and had lived in East Hampton all her life. Pauline enjoyed the challenge of doing crossword puzzles. She loved flowers and gardening. Besides her husband she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Dianne Sobolewski of Cobalt; three brothers, John A. Peterson, Terrence "Terry" Peterson, and James R. Peterson, all of East Hampton; her grandchildren, Craig, Jaclyn and Jennie Sobolewski. Also, many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, Middle Haddam with the Rev. Mark Given, officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, East Hampton. There are no calling hours. Friends wishing may make memorial contributions to Weiss Hospice Unit.

    Joseph S. Banning III, 72, of Edgerton St., East Hampton. Beloved husband of Barbara (Ackley) Banning, passed away Monday (March 4, 2002) at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Cushman, MA., Sept. 30,1929, son of the late Joseph B. and Marguerite (Jones) Banning, and had lived in East Hampton all his life. Before his retirement he was a developer and building contractor in East Hampton and surrounding towns for many years. Joe was a member of St. Patrick Church, East Hampton, a life member and past commander of Fowler-Dix-Park Post #5095, VFW, East Hampton, served on the East Hampton Board of Sewer Commissioners, and was formerly active with the East Hampton Little League. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war, and received a Korean Service Medal and United Nations Service medal. Besides his wife he is survived by his loving family, Joseph B. Banning and his wife, Jill of Ashford, Stephen M. Banning of East Hampton, Richard H. Banning and his wife, Patricia of East Hampton, Dennis G. Banning of East Hampton, Laura L. Landry and her husband, Ronald of East Hampton, Karen A. Ennen and her husband, Robert of East Hampton; 14 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, 11 a.m. with a Funeral Liturgy at St. Patrick Church, 47 West High St., (RT 66), East Hampton. Rev. Charles R. LeBlanc will be the Celebrant and burial will follow with military honors in St. Patrick Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Spencer Funeral Home, 112 Main St., East Hampton, Thursday 5-8 p.m. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to St. Patrick Church Repair Fund or Padre Pio Foundation of America Inc.

    Alice Josephine (Banning) Forbes, 50, of East Hampton, beloved wife of John R. Forbes III, died Thursday Feb. 23rd after a courageous battle with cancer. Born March 27, 1961 in Middletown she was the daughter of the late Robert and Judith (Staplins) Banning. Alice grew up in East Hampton and was a lifelong resident. Alice's first love was her family. She adored her children and her grandkids meant the world to her. She enjoyed holiday and birthday gatherings and getting the entire family together. When the whole family wasn't available, Alice lived to ride on the back of a Harley Davidson motorcycle with her husband, Jack. She was known by all for her love of Disney's Tinker Bell and her sassy, never back down attitude. You could always find Alice holding a bottle of Pepsi. She lived life to the fullest and never had any regrets. Besides her husband John, she is survived by her son John R. Forbes IV of Vernon, her daughter Jamie Urban and her husband Scott of Vernon, two step daughters Janice Beardsley and Elise Forbes, four brothers Robert Banning of Marlborough, John Banning of East Hampton, Paul Banning of East Hampton, Edwin Banning of Portland, three cherished grandchildren Melissa, Autumn, and William, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Frank Banning. Funeral services will be held Monday Feb. 27th at 11AM in the Spencer Funeral Home 112 main St. East Hampton. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Masonicare of Wallingford.

Andrew served in the Army in the 196th Infantry Brigade from 1965 to 1967 in the Vietnam War. He also served in the Army National Guard from 1977 to 1980. He was in the Aircraft industry at Pratt & Whitney as a machinist until retiring in 2000. Andrew was the beloved husband of Carol Moon. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher. Andrew is survived by his son, Brian; and grandchildren, Madison, Avery, and Connor. He leaves three brothers and five sisters and is predeceased by one brother and sister.     John R. Moon Sr., 67, of Moodus, died Saturday April 18, 2015 at Chestelm Health and Rehab in Moodus. Born June 11, 1947 in Middletown he was the son of the late Andrew J. and Mildred (Peterson) Moon. John grew up in East Hampton and moved to Indiana where he had worked at Dutchman Camper as a Forman before his illness. He returned to Moodus in 2008. John served his country in the Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his son John R. Moon Jr. of Cromwell, five daughters Michelle Espinosa of Newington, Victoria Moon of Middletown, Bridget Goff of Moodus, Kaitlyn Stone of Indiana, Emily Moon of Indiana, Nine brothers and sisters, best friend David Sorvello of East Hampton and nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Cheryl Keser. Friends may call at the Spencer Funeral Home 112 Main St. East Hampton on Friday April 24th from 4PM until 6PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.

    Cheryl L. Keser, 60 of Portland, passed away Thursday January 16, 2014 at Middlesex Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mildred (Peterson) Moon.
    Born on July 24, 1953 in Middletown, she lived in Portland for most of her life. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and antiquing. Cheryl lovingly spent most of her time caring for those around her, young and old, people and animals alike. She will be remembered for her sarcastic humor, compassion and sound advice. The family would like to express their heartfelt, sincere appreciation and gratitude to the nurses, staff and volunteers of Middlesex Hospital Hospice. Their loving care made a difficult time more bearable.
    She leaves her daughters, Elise and Mary Keser both of Portland, her adopted daughter, Kim Tyrseck of Portland, brothers, Andy Moon of North Carolina, John Moon of Moodus, James Moon of Colchester and Ray and Mark Moon both of East Hampton, sisters, Sandra Knowlton of Zephyr Hills, FL, Barbara Noack of Ashland, NH, Donna Carone of East Hampton, Marjorie Sorvillo of East Hampton and Karen Wilson of Sidney, ME, many nieces and nephews and close friends, Gail Waters and Kathy Tierney both of Portland. She was predeceased by her former husband, Charles Keser.
    Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Middlesex Hospital Hospice.
