Robert C. Selfridge, Formerly of Tupper, Dies Suddenly Monday
Robert C. Selfridge, 77, a resident for many years of Tupper Lake, died very suddenly Monday afternoon about 2 o'clock at his home at Deerland, Long Lake.
He had been under treatment for a heart ailment for several years, but had remained active until his death. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 1:30 at Long Lake Methodist Episcopal Church and interment was in the family plot at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Saranac Lake.
He was born at North Argyle, N.Y. on August 17, 1870, the son of James and Elizabeth Cuthbert Selfridge, and was married at Saranac Lake to Eliza McClelland. The family moved to Tupper Lake in 1914, and Mrs. Selfridge died here in 1917.
Mr. Selfridge was in the employ of the New York Central (illegible two lines) Maintenance of Way Employee. About 18 years ago he moved to Long Lake, where he was married a second time in 1930 to Annie Scott Plumley, who survives. She has been confined to Mercy General hospital here by illness since last November.
Mr. and Mrs. Selfridge operated Plumley's Camp, one of the leading summer resorts on Long Lake, until about two years ago, when they sold the property.
Surviving, besides his wife, are one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Dorothy) Kennedy of Sackets Harbor, N.Y.; one son, Robert Selfridge of Altmar, N.Y.; four brothers; Ransom Selfridge of Ganesvoort, N.Y.; Charles and Frank Selfridge of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; and Chauncey Selfridge, North Hartford, N.Y.; also four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were made at the Deshaw Funeral Parlors here.
