  1. 4.  James Leonard MunroJames Leonard Munro was born on 16 Mar 1927 in Drake, Saskatchewan, Canada (son of Daniel George Munro and Sarah Jane McKirdy); died on 29 Feb 2024; was buried in Mabel Hill Cemetery, Nipawin, Rural Municipality of Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Canada.

    Notes:

James Leonard Munro was born to Dan and Jean Munro on March 16th, 1927, on the family farm near Drake, Saskatchewan. James was the second youngest child of their family of 9 children. The family moved to Nipawin, Saskatchewan when James was still very young, and landed at the new Munro farm a few miles east of Nipawin. In the early years it was tough living on the farm, and Dan and Jean taught their children how to work, live, and love our Heavenly Father.
As a young man, James had many different jobs off the farm, and one spring after returning home from working in a steel foundry in Ontario, Gladys Nadiger was at the farm visiting his sisters. He told Gladys, they were going to be ?chums? that summer. It turned out they were married that year on November 3rd, 1948. Jim and Gladys had three children, Harold, Gwen, and Brian. They lived on the farm East of Nipawin until the kids started school, then they would move into town for winter, and back out to the farm for the summer.
Jim farmed with his son Harry until Harry?s sudden passing in 2013, and then farmed with his grandson, Vince up until the fall of 2023. His livelihood and passion was farming. He loved to be in the action and was always up for an adventure.
He made his choice to serve God as a young man and stayed true to that calling until the end of his life. He was at peace with his choice, and his words of encouragement and positive outlook were a light to all those who knew him.
Jim and Gladys? family has grown to include 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Jim loved and showed interest in his family and had a special relationship with each one. He would visit, play, tease, and joke, or ?tune you in,? if needed. Everyone who knew him has fond memories of our dad, grandpa, and friend.

James married Gladys Ethel Nadiger on 3 Nov 1948. Gladys was born on 7 Jan 1926 in Nokomis, Saskatchewan, Canada; died on 23 Mar 2019 in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Canada; was buried in Mabel Hill Cemetery, Nipawin, Rural Municipality of Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Canada. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 5.  Gladys Ethel NadigerGladys Ethel Nadiger was born on 7 Jan 1926 in Nokomis, Saskatchewan, Canada; died on 23 Mar 2019 in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Canada; was buried in Mabel Hill Cemetery, Nipawin, Rural Municipality of Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Canada.

    Notes:

Gladys Ethel Munro passed away peacefully at home last Saturday morning, March 23, 2019 with her husband by her side.
Gladys was born in Nokomis, SK to Ernie and Ethel Nadiger on January 7, 1926. The Nadiger family lived in Lockwood, SK until 1931, when they moved north to Sunnybrook District and then settled in the Dartmore District north of Aylsham.
Gladys made the choice to serve God when she was 14 years old and remained faithful for the next 79 years. She obtained her grade 12 and took all of her classes by correspondence.
As the only girl in her family, there were many local girls she chummed with, including Gladys and Ethel Munro. The Nadiger and Munro families visited back and forth and on November 3, 1948 Gladys married Jim Munro.
Jim and Gladys had three children; Harold, Gwen and Brian. They lived on the farm until the children started school. Then they moved to town for the winters because the roads weren?t plowed, but they always went back to the farm for the summer.
Eventually their family grew to include 11 grandchildren and now, 21 great grandchildren. Gladys loved being a grandma and had endless patience with each one, no matter what state they were in.
She worked hard in the early days and continued to do so for many years as a farm wife, gardener, book keeper and even an equipment operator.
Throughout her life, no matter what hat she wore or what situation she found herself in, she was always gracious and always a lady.
Gladys was predeceased by her parents, Ernie and Ethel Nadiger, her two brothers, Alvin and Lloyd Nadiger, her son, Harold Munro and her granddaughter, Jamie Morris.
