  1. 10.  Albert Edward KirkAlbert Edward Kirk was born on 11 Jun 1930 in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA (son of Frank John Thomas Kirk and Florence Evelyn Miner); died on 8 Mar 2012 in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, USA; was buried in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts, United States.

    Notes:

    Albert E. Kirk, 81, of Wilbraham, passed away peacefully on Thursday March 8th at his home. Born in Springfield on June 11, 1930 to the late Frank J. T. and Florence E. (Miner) Kirk, he had been a resident of Wilbraham for the past 60 years. He was a 1948 graduate of the former Springfield Technical High School and of Western New England College where he earned his BSME in 1961. He retired from Hamilton Standard Div. of United Technologies Corporation in 1987 after 34 years of employment there. He was a Senior Liaison Engineer in both the Environmental Controls Systems and Propulsion areas; a Reliability Engineer and Patent Coordinator for the Aircraft Systems Department in his final ten years there. Before moving to Wilbraham, he had attended Wesley Methodist Church and Park Congregational Church, both in Springfield. Albert served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Was as an Aerographer (Weatherman) attaining the rank of 2nd Class Petty Officer. He was Past President of the Western Massachusetts Genealogical Society, a member of several other genealogical associations, was active in genealogical and family history pursuits and was a descendant of a great number of New England's and Canada's earliest settlers. He was an avid gardener though chess was another of his particular interests and he played with the Wednesday Club at the Hubbard Library in Ludlow. Active in Wilbraham Town Affairs, he was elected many times to the position of Water Commissioner which post he held for 25 years, more than half of them as Chairman. Previously, he had been on the Town's Recreation Commission. He had been active with Boy Scout Troop #177 in Wilbraham as its Institutional Representative; was a former Deacon at the Wilbraham United Church and was a member of its Singles and Doubles group. He and his wife of 60 years, Dorothy, travelled extensively, enjoying many places in the United States and in the world. He leaves his wife, the former Dorothy M. Noyes of Wilbraham; a son, Edward A. of Baltimore, MD; four daughters, Barbara J. Kirk of Springfield, Elizabeth D. K. Yandell of Lynchburg, TN, Carolyn K. Landquist and Judith K. Stewart, both of Wilbraham; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, James in 1986, Frank in 1981 and Robert in 2009. The funeral services and burial will be private for the family in Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield. Byron Keenan Funeral Home & Cremation Tribute center is entrusted with the arrangements.
