    JAMES R. CATES, 65, of Port Charlotte, Florida, died Sunday at Hospice House, Port Charlotte. Born in Pulaski, he lived in Pineville before moving to Florida 27 years ago. He was a retired construction contractor, specializing in trim work. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was an Army veteran. Survivors: a daughter, Sandra Cates of Port Charlotte; two sons, Robert of Port Charlotte, and Richard of Orlando, Florida; a sister, June Hilliker of Pulaski; six grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday in Port Charlotte United Methodist Church. No calling hours. National Cremation Socitey, Port Charlotte, has arrangements.

    Robert Cates, 57, a Pulaski resident, died Monday afternoon while at work as a building contractor in Phoenix.
    Born in Mexico, May 3, 1902, he was the son of Addison and Maude pond Cates. Mr. Cates served with the Seabee's in World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 358, the South Richland Grange and the Fernwood Methodist Church.
    Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mildred Cates; a daughter, Mrs. June Hilliker; two sons, Gordon of Clifton, NJ and James Cates of Altmar; his mother, Mrs. Maude Cates of Mexico; a sister, Mrs. Albert Lawrence Jr. of Cortland; a brother, George Cates of Pulaski and three grandchildren.
    Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Taylor Funeral Home, the Rev. Robert Pennock officiating. Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery.

    Former Pulaski resident, Mildred A. Cates, 85, died Friday at Port Charlotte, Florida Hospital. Mrs. Cates had lived in Pulaski before moving to Florida 20 years ago. Mrs. Cates had taught in the Douglas Central School District in the town of Richland. Her husband, Robert A., died in 1959. Surviving are a daughter, June C. Hilliker of Pulaski; a son James R. of Port Charlotte; a stepson, Gordon Cates of League City, Texas; two brothers, Roland Stock of Mexico and Donald Stock of Sandy Creek; two sisters, Grace Geglia of Red Hook and Ruth Emery of Pulaski; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be private. Contributions may be made to Pulaski Baptist Church. The National Cremation Society, Port Charlotte, has charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Robert Cates of Maple View and Miss Mildred Stock of Pulaski were married Saturday at the Methodist parsonage by the Rev. Dr. George F. Sheppard, pastor. Attendants were Harold Stock, and Miss Ruth Stock, brother and sister of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Cates will reside at Maple View.
