PRICE, Gilbert Ira
passed on peacefully at the Green Home, Monday, February 19, 2007. Gilbert was born on the farm at Sonningdale, Saskatchewan July 2, 1921. He married Esther Baker in 1945 and they moved to B. C. in 1948. Gilbert worked for the C.M.& S., had Price Excavating with his brother, Nelson. He also had the Kimberley Tire Shop. As the owner of Keynote Builders, he moved to Cranbrook in 1964 to build houses. He was also a carpenter with Crestbrook and the Carpenter’s Union. Gilbert was a Traveling Elder with Global Missions. It was his greatest passion to do the work of the Lord. He was a “good and faithful servant” all his life. Gilbert loved his family and friends. He helped most everyone at one time or another in his lifetime. He loved to build something out of nothing. His talent was extraordinary. He loved to entertain everyone with his violin, guitar or singing. He made many tapes of spiritual music for anyone who enjoyed it. Gilbert is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Esther, two daughters,
Joanne (Jim) Large, and Cathy (Danny) Adams, Grandson Dustin Adams, Granddaughter, Brandy Adams (fiancé, Kevin Dunnebacke), one brother, Byron (Hazel) Price, 3 sisters, Vivian Atkins, Esther Foreman, Doreen (Jim) Taylor, sister-in-law, Mary Lou Price, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harry & Hilda Johnson. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sarah, a sister, Eva and a brother, Nelson. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at McPherson Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Global Missions, Box 934, North Battleford, SK S9A 2Z3 or a charity of your choice. passed on peacefully at the Green Home, Wednesday, October 3, 2007. Esther was born at Biggar, Saskatchewan September27, 1922. She married Gilbert Price in 1945 and they moved to B.C. in 1948. Esther worked as an Accountant for Gilbert's companies. She acquired the equivalent of a Chartered Accountant and Tax Accountant. She taught bookkeeping at night school.. She was also a professional painter and wood finisher. It was a great pleasure for her to reach 30 years of volunteer service with the Hospital Auxiliary.Esther lived her Christian life faithfully and was an example for many to follow. She and Gilbert traveled for Global Missions . She was a blessing to many in her own quiet way. Esther was proud of her large garden. Shesupplied everyone she knew with fresh vegetables all summer. She was an awesome baker and hospitality was her forte. She was always ready for a cup of tea and a chat.Esther is survived by two daughters, Joanne (Jim) Large and Cathy (Danny) Adams, Granddaughter, Brandy Adams (Fiance, Kevin Dunnebacke), Grandson, Dustin Adams, one sister, Hilda (Harry) Johnson, brother-in-law, Byron Price, sisters-in-law, Hazel Price, Vivian Atkins, Doreen Taylor, Esther Foreman, and Mary Lou Price. She was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert in February 2007, daughter Sarah, brother, Harold Baker and sisters, Charlotte Buck, Frances Bright and Anne Hout. He was in his 79th year and was the son of the late Ira Price and Margaret Prettie and was born in Darling Twp. He was married to Esther Munroe of Darling, who predeceased him seven years ago. He leaves three sisters and one brother; Annie (Mrs. Albert Vardy) in Alberta; Margaret (Mrs. Foster) of Kingston; Maria of Picton; Alex. of Brancroft and Ira in Alberta. There are also his seven daughters and three sons; Maggie (Mrs. Rutherford) Unity SK; Lizzie (Mrs. Lambe) Winnipeg; Mary (Mrs. Thomas Sise) of McDonald's Corners; Marion (Mrs. Stewart Gunn) of Tatlock; Alice (Mrs. Milton McKay) and Jean (Mrs. Ernest Foste) of Clayton; Lila (Mrs. Alex Munro) of Almonte; Jacob and Ira of Saskatchewan; Thomas on the homestead at Clayton. Two children died in infancy and Esther died in Winnipeg in 1905; while Hugh died 14 years ago. Burial in Clayton Cemetery.

Mrs. Jacob Price, Sr., of Galbraith, mention of whose sudden death was made last week, was born on Sept. 9th, 1851. Mrs. Price's death was caused by heart failure. She was seemingly in good health until within a few hours of her death. Her maiden name was Esther Munro, and she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Munro of Darling. In 1873 she was married to Mr. Jacob Price, and to them fourteen children were born, two of whom died in infancy, and Hugh A., died in Feb. 1914, and Mrs. Wm. Lyons (Esther) in Aug 1905. Those who are still living are: Mrs. Sandy Rutherford (Margaret Jane), Unity, Sask.; Mrs. Edmond R. Lambe (Elizabeth C.), Shoal Lake, Man.; Mrs. Thomas Fife (Mary), McDonald's Corners, Ont.; Mrs. Milton McKay (Alice L.), Middleville, Ont.; Mrs. Alex Munro (Delilah), Hall's Mills, Ont.; Mrs. Ernest Foster, (Jeanie), Galbraith, Ont.; Messrs: Jacob and Ira Price, Sonningdale, Sask.; Mr. Thomas Price, on the old home at Galbraith; Miss Marion Price at home. Rev. Mr. Currie, Baptist minister, from Lanark, preached, assisted by Rev. Mr. Merrilees. The flowers were a beautiful spray from the family. Mrs. Price was a member of the W.M.S., and was always a faithful attendant when possible, and was always ready to lend a helping hand in any good cause. She will be missed in that as well as in many other ways.
