Melvin Gene Blonde, 85, of Litchfield Township, passed away Sunday (11-03-2013) at the Hillsdale Community Health Center. He was born March 1, 1928 in Litchfield Township, MI to Gerald and Irene (Wilcox) Blonde and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1947. Gene was a self-employed truck driver and was employed by Simpson Industries for 30 years. He was also a farmer and raised spotted hogs. He was active in the 4-H swine barn at the Hillsdale County Fair for 25 years. He also belonged to the I.O.O.F. and coached Little League ball teams for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia (Minar) Blonde, whom he married December 24, 1949;
2 sons, Craig (Allison) Blonde of Homer; Kevin Blonde of Litchfield; 1 sister, Joan Kahle of Portage; grandchildren, Lisa (Dennis) Hart of Fort Wayne IN; Evan Blonde of Homer; and step-great-granddaughter, Shannon Brennan. Gene was preceded in death by his daughter (Carron Houchen), and brothers (Charles, Marion, and Robert Blonde).
Visitation is scheduled Tuesday from 5-8 PM at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel, Litchfield. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 1:00 PM, at the Litchfield United Methodist Church with Reverends Julie Yoder Elmore and Clyde Wonders officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Litchfield. Memorials are suggested to the Litchfield United Methodist Church Food Pantry or the Hillsdale County 4-H Council.

Patricia (daughter of Mason Doster Minar and Stella Lois Smith) was born on 5 Oct 1930 in Perryville, Michigan, USA; died on 17 Nov 2013 in Coldwater Township, Michigan, USA; was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Litchfield, Hillsdale County, Michigan, United States. Patricia Grace Blonde, 83, of Litchfield, passed away Sunday (11-17-2013) at the Community Health Center of Branch County, Coldwater. She was born October 5, 1930 in Clarendon Township MI to Mason and Stella (Smith) Minar. Pat graduated from Litchfield High School in 1949 and worked as a bookkeeper for many years. She also served her community as the Litchfield Township Treasurer for 12 years, Hillsdale County Commissioner for 10 years, and Litchfield BPW Club member. Pat was an active member of the Litchfield United Methodist Church, the UMW, and she served as a church board member.
On December 24, 1949 she married Melvin Gene Blonde, and he preceded her in death Nov. 3, 2013. Survivors include 2 sons, Craig (Allison) Blonde of Homer; Kevin Blonde of Litchfield; 2 grandchildren, Lisa (Dennis) Hart of Fort Wayne IN; Evan Blonde of Homer; step-great-granddaughter, Shannon Brennan; and 3 sisters, Linda Maddock of Rockford IL; Sally Pritchard of Coldwater; Charlotte Hendrickson of Mattewan. In addition to her husband, Pat was preceded in death by her daughter (Carron Houchen) and her sister (Jane Taylor).
