    Ruth (King) died peacefully with family by her side after a brief illness on Sunday, June 25, 2006 at North Bay General Hospital. She was in her 93rd year. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Frederick ?Fred? John Young, her son Joseph Lloyd Young, her sons-in-law Robert ?Bob? Miller and Gerard Corcoran. She was the loving mother of Theresa Miller of Kingston, Phillis McKenna of Powassan, Lyle Young of Hanmer, Mina Corcoran of Morinville, Alberta, James ?Jim? Young (Irene) of Powassan, Kalvin Young (Beverley ?Bev?) of Powassan, Stephen ?Steve? Young (Gail) of Powassan, Francis ?Frank? Young (Kathy) of Powassan, Veronica McCutcheon (Mark), Innisfil, Helen Armstrong (Paul) of Bracebridge, her daughters-in-law Shirley Young of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and Theresa Young of Ottawa. Beloved grandmother of 36 grandchildren and 45 great- grandchildren. Ruth is also predeceased by her brothers William, John, Joseph, George, Henry, Daniel, and Simon King, her sisters Annie Bella King, Florence Busby, Katie King, Jenny ?Jean? Yerkie, and Ethel Newbatt.
    The family will receive visitors at the PAUL FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at St. Joseph's Church on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Powassan. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery. If desired, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

    Nipissing - A resident of Nipissing most of her life, Mrs. William Murdock King, who leaves 245 direct descendants, died Tuesday at Eastholme, Powassan, following a lengthy illness. She was 88.
    Friends may pay their respects at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan, where the funeral service will be conducted in the chapel Friday at 2 p.m. by Fergus McElrea. Interment will at Nipissing Cemetery.
    Rhoda Annah King was born Sept. 4, 1881, at Parham, Ont., daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Parker Perry. She came to Nipissing as a young girl with her parents. Her marriage to William Murdock King took place at Powassan Sept. 20, 1897.
    Predeceased by her husband in 1944, Mrs. King is survived by seven sons: William and Daniel, Nipissing; John, Powassan; Joe, Little Current; George and Henry, Sudbury and Simon, Trout Creek; four daughters: Mrs. R. Busby (Florence), Iron Bridge; Mrs. M. Yerkie (Jean), Nipissing; Mrs. Fred Young (Ruth), Powassan and Mrs. Wesley Watson (Ethel), Hamilton; 62 grandchildren, 158 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. J.B. McCollom (Nellie), Oliver, B.C.
    Mrs. King was predeceased by two daughters.

    PARKER PERRY - The death of James Parker Perry at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. King Sr., at Nipissing on Nov. 21st, has removed another pioneer from our midst. Mr. Parker suffered a stroke of paralysis six years ago and has been an invalid ever since.
    He was born at Sydenham, Ont., Feb. 5th, 1861, and was in his 80th year. He married Eliza Jane Ayerst at Parham in August 1878, and she died in June 1929. Eleven children were born to this union, of whom five have died, the youngest son, William, making the supreme sacrifice in France in June 1918. Two sons and four daughters are left, namely: George Perry, of Nipissing; Hiram Perry, of Cedar Springs, Mich.; Mrs. Anna King, Nipissing; Mrs. Maude Stark, Shingleton, Mich.; Mrs. Pearl Atwood, Rockford, Mich.; and Mrs. Nellie McCallum, Emsdale. There are 40 grandchildren and 83 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. A brother, John Perry, lives at London, Ont.
    Mr. Perry came to Nipissing Township and settled at Hotham about 56 years ago, and except for about 8 years spent in Michigan he has always lived in the township, so he was one of the township's oldest settles.
    The funeral was held on Friday from the home of Mrs. King to the Nipissing Cemetery, and was largely attended by neighbours and other friends. Portius Johnson and Geo. Paige, ministers of the Followers of Christ, had charge of the service. The pallbearers were six grandsons - Joe, Simon and William King Jr., and Alex, Levi and Enos Byers.

    James married Eliza Jane Ayerst on 3 Aug 1880 in Central Frontenac Township, Ontario, Canada.     Mrs. J.P. Perry - The death of Eliza Jane Ayerst, beloved wife of Parker Perry of Nipissing Tp., occurred at the home of her daughter in Sundridge last Thursday. The funeral was held on Saturday from the home of her son, George Perry, Nipissing, and the remains were laid to rest in the Nipissing cemetery. Rev. Mr. Evans, Anglican minister at Powassan, conducted the funeral service, assisted by Rev. Mr. White of Sundridge. Many relatives and friends were present to pay their last respects to the deceased lady. The pallbearers were six grandsons.
    Mrs. Perry was born at Westbrook, Ont., June 30th, 1862, and was married to Parker Perry at Parham, Ont., Aug. 8, 1878. This union was blessed with eleven children. Four died in infancy and the youngest son, William, paid the supreme sacrifice in France in June 1918.
    Besides her husband the chief mourners are her seven sons and daughters, 36 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; also her aged mother in Dayton, Iowa, and one sister and three brothers. One son and two daughters in Michigan were unable to attend the funeral, but they were here a month ago to see their mother.

    On the 1st of March, 1906, Mr. Bass married Mrs. Anna Butler, a native of Canada and a daughter of John and Caroline Eliza (Bryant) Gates. The father, who was of Dutch extraction, was born in Kingston, Canada, and the mother in Ogdensburg, New York. He was a son of John Gates, who homesteaded one hundred acres of land, where the Kingston Market now stands in Ontario, Canada. When the War of 1812 broke out he went to the front and is supposed to have been killed at the Battle of the Windmill, at Prescott, Ontario, as he was never heard from afterward. His son, John Gates, the father of Anna Bass, was one of the successful agriculturists of Kingston, Ontario, and acquired one thousand acres of valuable land in Frontenac county, upon which the youngest son, George Gates, is now residing. Mrs. Bass inherited two hundred acres of land from her father, which is now rented to her eldest son, George Henry Ayerst. Mr. Gates passed away in Canada in 1889, and the mother, who was of Irish and American descent, came to Iowa and made her home with her son James Gates at Boone, until her death in 1901. Mrs. Bass was first married in 1861 to Francis Ayerst. of England. He died in Canada twenty-five years ago and she later became the wife of Charles Butler, a veteran of the Civil war and a native of the state of New York, where he likewise died. In 1904, she located in Boone, Iowa, and there she was married two years later to Mr. Bass.
