Notes:

The approximately 100 Anglicans in Cornwall hired their first full-time minister, John Bryan, in 1787 and established the first weekly Anglican services in the royal townships. However, two years later he fled to the United States to avoid censure, leaving his wife and children behind. Cornwall residents later discovered that Bryan was an imposter who had forged his religious credentials.

Jeremiah French was born c. 1712, the second son of Samuel and Mary (Price) French of Stratford, Connecticut. He moved from Connecticut to Dover, Dutchess County by 1756 and leased two large farms totaling over 400 acres. He lived near Old Dover's Tavern in South Dover. He was an original purchaser of some of the New Hampshire Grants and before the Revolution owned much of what is today Manchester Center, Vermont.
He had 4 sons who were loyalists; Jeremiah Jr., Benjamin, Charity and Gershom. He was often accused of being a Loyalist himself, and after some skirmishes with some of the locals, and having to escape for awhile to Long Island, he finally prevailed in Court and retained all his lands in Dutchess County, New York.
