    Mr. Arthur E. Hilliker, 73, died June 2, 2006. Arthur was born June 9, 1932 in Pulaski, N.Y. to Frank L. and Florence Grant Hilliker. He attended local schools where he excelled in several sports, with football being his favorite. Following college, Art was employed by Crouse-Hinds in Syracuse, New York and his work in the traffic signal division resulted in fourteen patents being acquired by Mr. Hilliker. Later Art started his business, Eastern Signal Company, which supplied traffic control systems to municipalities and customers throughout New York state. Art was known to his friends and competitors alike, as the ?Silver Fox?. Arthur served in the Navy during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Wasp, VF173. He was both a ?shellback? and a ?bluenose? and kept in contact with shipmates by attending alumni reunions. Art was a charter member of the Pulaski Lions Club, member of the VFW and American Legion and honorary member of the Ringgold Fire Department. Always an avid sports enthusiast, Art served for several years as Little League president in Pulaski. He supported various sports programs, and contributed in many ways. As a strong believer in community service, Art was elected Supervisor, Town of Richland and served for 17 years. He also served on the advisory board of Key Bank, Watertown, N.Y. After retirement Art and his wife Gail were ?Snowbirds?, traveling between homes in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and Pulaski, New York with their darling dachshund, Dixie. Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 27 years, Gail; sons: Brian (Sharon) of Pulaski, New York and Scott (Allison) of Owego, New York; step-daughter: Debra (John) Hamilton of Cleveland, South Carolina; step-son: John R. Victor of Jacksonville, Florida. He was pre-deceased by step-son Michael Victor. Art?s granddaughters were precious to him: Lissa, Kendal, Alexis, Emily and Shannon, as well as a step-great grandson, Riley. Art and his brothers shared a special bond of all being Navy men: Charles of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Stanley (Carnell) of Sandy Pond, New York and Henry L. ?Monty? (Melva) of Pulaski, New York and he will also be missed by his sister: Lillian (Robert) of Parkersburg, West Virginia and his many nieces, nephews and life-long friends. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Elizabeth Scharoun, brothers Carl and Kenneth. His family will receive friends from 2 PM to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM on Thursday, June 8, 2006 at Foster-Hax Funeral Home (315-298-2136), 52 Park Street, Pulaski, New York and the funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, June 9, 2006 at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Elizabeth Mallory, officiating. Interment will follow in the Pulaski Cemetery in Pulaski, New York.
