    Richard S. Jobson, 84, of West Simsbury, died Wednesday, (September 5, 2007) at Governor's House in Simsbury. Born in Wethersfield, he was the son of the late Archie and Marjorie (Wiley) Jobson. He graduated from Wethersfield High School and attended Vermont Junior College. Richard leaves his wife of 58 years, Alice (Verbonick) Jobson. In addition, he is survived by his son, David Jobson, of Simsbury; his daughter, Margaret Crofton and her husband, Edward, of Simsbury; and his brother, John, of Colorado. "Pops" will also be missed by his granddaughters, Kathryn Crofton, of New Haven, Maggie Crofton, of Simsbury, and his great-grandson, Dade Crofton, of Simsbury. Richard proudly served in the Navy during World War II. He retired from SNET in 1981. Richard was an avid fan of the Red Sox, the Celtics, and Simsbury Slow-Pitch Softball. Richard was rarely idle and he will be remembered for many years through the beautiful hand-made furniture, wood carvings, stained-glass pieces, and ship models he created. Richard's family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the many people who cared for him during the past 18 months, especially Annie, Judy, and Clare, of Governor's House. A memorial service for family and friends will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Taylor and Modeen Funeral Home, in West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 279 New Britain Ave., Kensington, CT 06037.

    Alice V. Jobson, of West Simsbury, wife of Richard S. Jobson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at her home. She was born in Hartford to the late Michael and Agnes Verbonick and graduated from Bulkeley High School. She had many fond memories of growing up in Hartford, especially Saturday night dances and working at Hueblein Distillery. Alice was a resident of Simsbury for nearly 60 years where she enjoyed gardening and travelling with Richard during their retirement years. She took great pride in caring for her home, but her family was most important. Alice is survived by her son David Jobson of West Simsbury; her daughter Margaret Crofton and her husband Edward of Simsbury; her sisters Rose Millman and Margaret Hughes; her granddaughters Kathryn and Maggie, and her three great-grandsons. Be at peace, Mom. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
