Funeral services for Enos Elijah Byers, beloved husband of Elizabeth Byers were held on Monday, September 1st. at Paul Funeral Home in Powassan. Reverend Dennis Landry officiated. Interment followed at Nipissing Cemetery.
The pallbearers were, his sons-in-law, Royce Rowland, Gene Frederrick and John Cossar, his grandsons, Donnie Rowland and Steve Byers and nephew, Carl Ulrich.
Born in Nipissing on September 13, 1907 Enos was the son of the late
John and Florence Byers.
Mr. Byers is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, six daughters and their husbands, Bea and Winston Hurley, Blanche Pollock, Lula and Walley Gray, Norma and Royce Rowland, Nancy and Gene Frederick, Susan and John Cossar, two sons and their wives, Clinton and Linda Byers, Norman and Joyce Byers.
Mr. Byers was predeceased by one son, Lincoln.
Lovingly remembered by 29 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Byers will always be remembered for his great sense of humor.

POWASSAN--Ephraim Robert Hughes, 73, died Friday in hospital following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were conducted today from the Paul Funeral Chapel with interment at the Nipissing Cemetery, Rev. Robert Jackson officiated. Pallbearers were, William South, Ireton Grawbarger, Douglas, Elmer and Allan Hughes and Larry McTiernan. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hector Hughes, Ephraim Hughes was born July 10, 1900 at Renfrew County. He worked as a farmer. He married the former Martha Ellen Anderson at Powassan, Oct. 15. 1930. Mr. Hughes is survived by wife wife; one son, Clive of Scarborough; three grandchildren; one brother, Archie of Nipissing and two sisters, Mrs. William Byers (Alma) of Orangeville and Mrs. Herb James (Alice) of Sudbury.

He was the beloved husband of Violet Agnes (Byers). Loving father of Karen and her husband Ben Cobb, Shelburne; Douglas, Powassan; and Marilyn, Toronto. Dear brother of Bert, Almonte; Eleanor McMartin, Charles, David, all of Mattawa; Lillian Allen of Thornloe. Loving grandfather of Sarah and Matthew Cobb.
Pallbearers were Eddie, Hugh, Clayton, and Don Hazelwood, Leonard Allen and Nelson McMartin.
The Funeral Service was held in the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan. Spring Interment will take place in the Powassan Union Cemetery.
