SUDBURY (Special)— Two North Bay district men were among four persons killed early today when the car in which they were passengers was in collision with a four-ton tow truck on Hwy 69 five miles south of here
Dead are: Arthur Levesque, 27, of Cache Bay; Edwin Grawbarger, 29, 15 Pearl St., Sudbury, formerly of Restoule; Frank Thornton, 24, 726 Connaught, Sudbury, formerly of Walford Station; Harold Kuleba, 21, 6 Morrison St., Sudbury, formerly of Whitefish Falls.
OPP officers believe the car attempted to make a left turn as the tow truck approached from the opposite direction.
The accident occurred directly in front of the Brockden Motor Hotel, at about 1 a.m.
The four men were employed at the copper refinery in Copper Cliff end were on their way back from work at the time of the accident.
The Cache Bay resident, Mr. Levesque was married early this year to the former Rolande Savage of Sturgeon Falls. The couple were expecting their first child later this year.
Mr. Levesque commuted to and from Copper Cliff every day.
The fatalities bring to 47 the number of persons who have died in traffic accidents in the Sudbury area this year.
Edwin Grawbarger, 29, who was single, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kitchener Grawbarger of Restoule. He had been employed at the International Nickel Company’s Copper Cliff plant for about a year.

Born and raised in Thessalon, ON the daughter of the late Anne Montgomery ( Townes ) and the late Joseph LaFrance. Loving mother of Todd ( Paula ) and Tracy ( Henrik ) LaFrance. Nana to Coty and Chelsya Thomas and Thor and Isabelle LaFrance. Sister of Jim ( Angie ) LaFrance, Joe ( Kathy ) LaFrance, Deb ( David ) Morin, Steve Townes, Linda Townes and Bill ( Audra ) Townes. Catherine A. Mills, 84, Machesney Park, Ill., died at 8:01 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2005 in Rockford Memorial Hospital.
She was born December 1, 1920, in Rockford, the daughter of Earl E. and Esther Dinse Pugh. She married Harry L. Mills in Rockford in 1946. Catherine lived in Machesney Park until moving to Boscobel in 1967. She returned to Machesney Park in turned 2000.
She was a founding member of Evans United Methodist Church, a member of the Harlem Alumni Association and former President of Women's Society of Mt. Zion Methodist Church where she also served as secretary of the Cemetery Association. She loved to quilt and do needlework donating many items to the VA Hospital in Tomah and other charities.
She is survived by a daughter, Sue (Roger) Yurs, Rockford; grandchildren, Tammy Yurs, Belvidere, Todd (Andrea) Yurs, Neoga, Brian (Ivelisse Atiles) Mills, Grayslake, Kevin Mills, Kelly (Patti) Mills, all of Machesney Park, Kristen (Jamal) Rashid, Coon Rapids, Minn., and Cindy Swenson, Minneapolis; nine great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Arlys Mills, Machesney Park, Cheri Hastings, Minneapolis; a sister, Agnes Milsap, Eugene, Ore.; and special cousin, Dorothy Nulle, Woodstock.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harry, in 1999; and sons, Earl and Arthur Mills.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 23 at Evans United Methodist Church. Rev. John Wesley Lee officiated with burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Delehanty Funeral Home, Loves Park, Ill. was in Dedar Bluff Cemetery. Memorieals may be made to the church.

Potsdam - Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Methodist Episcopal church for Mrs. Catherine Price, 74, who died Saturday at her home on the Madrid road, The Rev, Dean E. Richardson, pastor, officiated and burial was in Bayside cemetery.
Mrs. Price was born in Canada Dec. 26, 1862, a daughter of John and Nancy Barkley Ondikirk. For the past 50 years she had resided in this section. Surviving are her husband, Arthur Price, two daughters and a son.

A funeral Mass for Cecelia L. Sweet, 99, of Lompoc, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2003 at La Purisima Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard Vega officiating. Burial will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Sweet was born Sept. 23, 1903, in Globe, Ariz., to Bernabe and Narcissa Leon. During World War I1, she worked at the Long Beach Shipyard and later was employed with Taylor Fashions in South Gate, Calif. for 35 years. In 1972, she and her family moved to Lompoc and became active parishioners at La Purisima Catholic Church and she was also a member of American Legion Post 211 Auxiliary. Cecelia's tailoring skills as a seamstress kept her busy with dressmaking and crocheting. She also enjoyed sketching portraits and landscapes.
She died Sunday, June 1, 2003 at the Convalescent Care Center.
Survivors include her daughters, Leatrice Sweet and Mary Elizabeth Leyden both of Lompoc and Raymond L. Febrero of Fairbanks, Alaska; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, five great-great-grand- children and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyman H. Sweet; sisters, Lena, Ruth, Theresa and Margaret; and a brother, Joseph.
Contributions may be made to American Legion Bill Proud Post 211, 636 No. H St., Lompoc 93436. Services are in the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Charlie at home. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Irene; daughter Shirley, grandchildren Vanessa and Cameron; son Don his wife Heather, grandchildren Jeffrey and Grace and daughter Lorraine. He was predeceased by his father Dan, mother Evelyn, sister Donalda and brother-in-law John Quinsey and his father-in-law Cecil McKay. Surviving are numerous nieces nephews and lifelong friends. Charlie started his education at Phipps School in Lilyfield, Manitoba and finished at Gordon Bell High School in Winnipeg. He began farming in his mid teens with his parents, a life he truly loved. Charlie belonged to many community organizations. He was treasurer of Lilyfield Church for many years. He was past Noble Grand of Stonewall Odd Fellows Lodge No. 49 and Worshipful Master of Stonewall Masonic Lodge No. 12. Charlie enjoyed curling for many years and loved to travel. By far his greatest joy in life came from his family. He was a devoted husband, dad and papa. He was a loving wise and gentle soul whose kindness was a tribute to the human spirit. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 11 at 2:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall, MB with interment to follow at Lilyfield Cemetery. Pallbearers are Cameron Stewart, Jeffrey Stewart, Bill Corbett, Brock Corbett, Brett Corbett and Justin Rosing. Masonic Service will be included regalla is appropriate. Funeral services were held at the Paul Funeral Home Chapel Powassan on Friday December 9 1983 for Charles Edward Byers. Rev Manliff Mitchell conducted the services. Spring burial will take place at Callander Union Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wayne Byers, Al Gardiner, Bob and Wally McDonald, Norman Ayers and Garfield Van Horne.
Mr. Byers, who was born June 27 1889 in Renfrew, Ontario, served in WWI and was a member of Callander Branch 445 Royal Canadian Legion. He was predeceased by his wife Viola South, whom he married in Callander in 1920. He was predeceased also by his parents William and Annie Byers.
Mr. Byers was a carpenter, trapper and guide and a member of Knox United Church, Callander.
Surviving are his sons Edward and George of Callander, and daughters Mildred Ayers, Clara (Mrs. Jim Jamieson), Bernice (Mrs. Manfred McDonald) also all of Callander.
Mr. Byers passed away in Newcastle, New Brunswick on December 7 1983.

The funeral for Mr. Mel McConnell was conducted Monday, November 19, 1990 in the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan by Reverend Harold Stuart.
Mr. McConnell died suddenly Thursday, November 15, 1990 at the North Bay Civic Hospital in his 72nd year.
He was the beloved husband of Ann (Waldriff), Callander; loving father of Shirley Adam, Callander; Gerry and his wife Lucille, Niagara Falls; Glen and his wife Susan; Roy and his wife Mary, all of Callander; Cheryl and her husband Donnie Storic, Powassan; daughter-in-law Mona, wife of the late Ross. Dear brother of Milton, Laura Dobbs, Golden Valley; Clarence, Ida Howe, North Bay; Merville, Vera Dobbs, Powassan; Myrtle Ransome, Edith Lamb, Parry Sound; the late Bernice, Alex and Harvey. Lovingly remembered by 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mel was the son of the late Charles and Ellen McConnell. Prior to his retirement Mel worked in trucking and in carpentry and his family recall that he was able to repair anything. He very much enjoyed ice-fishing, hunting and animals, especially horses.
Pallbearers for Mr. McConnell were Burton Dobbs, Gord Thompson, Dennis McConnell, Allan Waldorf, Paul Dobbs and Bryan Dobbs.
Following the service, a reception was provided by the ladies of the Nipissing North Community Centre.

Reverend Murray Arnill of Trinity United Church, conducted services in memory of Charles Ellsworth Phillips, Saturday afternoon in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed Tuesday Terrace Lawn Cemetery.
Born in North Bay, August 16th, 1913, Cap was the son of the late Charles Phillips and his wife the former Beatrice Garvin.
In his youth, Cana played hockey for Scollard Hall also the Sally Ann Fischers. He was a keen follower of all sports, and he was also a goal judge for many years at the the old North Bay Arena on King and Furguson.
Mr. Phillips had worked for the Liquor Control Board of Ontario, retiring in 1978.
He was predeceased by his first wife Jean Bellamy in the mid 70's and remarried Florence Fredericks July 31st, 1978.
He is survived by his wife Florence and his Donna, Diana, Shelley Sheryl, as well step as his brother William and sisters Esma and Dorothy.

John Lougheed officiating. Cremation with interment in Memory Gardens.

Funeral services for Charles Frederick Hazelwood, beloved husband of Imelda (Regimbal) of Calvin Township were held on Wednesday, May 29, 1991 from the Golden Age Hall in Mattawa, Ontario. Carson Cowan and Carson Wallace conducted the service. Interment was at the Pinehill Cemetery, Mattawa.
The pallbearers were six grandsons, Wade and Raymond Bryanton, Wayne, Michael and David Hazelwood, and Brian Moore. The honorary pallbearers were Orrin and Katrina Hazelwood.
Born in Papineau Township on December 23, 1909, Charles was the son of the late Herbert and Agnes Hazelwood.
Left to mourn are his wife Imelda, sons Gaylord (Miriam), Herbert (Sandra), Hugh (Marilyn), Clayton (Marilyn), Mahlon (Patti), daughters Ellen Bryanton and Kathleen (John) Moore, 30 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends.

CRYSTAL LAKE - Chester Miller Hobbs, 71, Venice, Fla., formerly of Elgin, died Friday, Nov. 9, in Florida.
He was born March 17, 1908.
Survivors are his wife, Ruth; a son, Earl, Torrance, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Karen Skelly, Seattle, Wash., Dorothy Callans, Bartlett, and Marcia Fisher, McHenry; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 11 a.m. today in the Warner and Flagg funeral home, Crystal Lake, with private burial.

 | Christine Darbonne Christine Stillwell Darbonne, born January 26, 1936 in Los Angeles, CA went to be with the Lord March 31, 2016 in Atascadero, CA. She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Charles Darbonne; sons Larry (wife Jean), Wayne (wife Robin) and Walter (wife Lois); and grandchildren Ken, Lindsay, Ryan, Adam, Kyle and Dave, and great-granddaughter Charlotte. Cris had a long and distinguished career in various administrative roles in the Atascadero Unified School District including working at Santa Rosa Road, Santa Margarita, Lewis Avenue and San Benito Elementary schools and Atascadero High School. Students and colleagues remember her love for kids and quickness to laugh that made learning fun. She was devoted to her family, supporting her children's activities including Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, competitive swimming, and band. She also was instrumental in starting a nursery school in Atascadero when her children were young. She greatly enjoyed camping with the family at Huntington Lake in the summer and Yosemite in the winter. She delighted in caring for her beloved Papillion dogs Michelle and Celeste, and participating in therapy dog programs at senior communities and with the children's 'Reading with Rover' program. She also loved being a member of Atascadero Bible Church. Cris became a pilot and enjoyed flying their airplane over the California central coast and was Chairman of the San Luis Obispo chapter of the Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots club for several years. Her other hobbies included caring for and riding Stormy, her Morgan horse, and playing softball. Cris was an inspiration to countless people through her exuberant example, life and humor. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Atascadero Bible Church would be greatly appreciated. A memorial service celebrating Cris’ life will be held at the Atascadero Bible Church on Tuesday, April 5th at 1:00pm.
