After a lengthy illness at Temiskaming and District Hospital, Friday, January 6, 1984 in her 57th year.
Audrey was an employee of Northern Telephone Company Limited, past president of the Communication Workers of Canada, the first National Vice President of the Communication Workers of Canada, and a member of the Telephone of Pioneers of America.
She is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Irene Merchant, and one brother, Grant Merchant.
Audrey is survived by her dear husband, Len, sons, Doug Tomchick and family, (Elliott Lake), Robert Tomchick and family, (Kitchener), Larry Tomchick and family, (Strathroy), Gord Tomchick, (Timmins), and Dan Tomchick, (Red Deer, Alta.) One step-son Len, of North Bay. Also surviving are two step-daughters, Mrs. Kathy O'Grady and Mrs. Theresa Bond both of North Bay.
Audrey is also survived by two sister, Bev. (Mrs. Lorne Jelly Jr.), New Liskeard, and Betty (Mrs. Elwin Winters) Val Caron. Two brothers, Norman Merchant of Gravenhurst, and Lyle Merchant of Calgary, Alberta. Lovingly remembered by her ten grandchildren.
Services were held held Monday, January 9, 1984 from St. Paul's United Church, New Liskeard, with the Rev. Lorne Keays officiating. Interment will be in the Hanbury Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Cliff Westman, Don Dodds, Roger Leroux, Mervyn Manners, Dick Smith and Joe MacDonald.
