Passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Thursday, July 11th, 2019. Betty (nee Bowman) was a beloved wife of the late Walter Richard MacMillan and Robert Oliver “Bob” Clark, she was 94 years old. Loving mother of Bob MacMillan and his wife Louise of Calgary. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Sean (Lise) MacMillan, Janet MacMillan-Brown and great grandchildren Keegan, Katie & Gavin. Dearly loved sister of Palmer Bowman of Elmvale. She was predeceased by her parent's Joseph and Elizabeth Bowman, and by her siblings Marjorie, Audrey, Joe, Austin, Sheldon, Sally and John. Betty had been an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #445. Visitation for Betty will be held at the Martyn Funeral Home on Sunday July 14th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Interment Callander Union Cemetery. If desired donations to the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation would be appreciated by her family.

Betty Ann (Smiley) Pelton Soens, Danbury, died at her home Dec. 21, 2001. She was 74 years old.
Betty was born May 8, 1927, in Pine City, Minn. Betty was the fourth child and first daughter of John M. and Pearl V. (McKee) Smiley. She and her family moved to Wisconsin in 1930, where she lived most of her youth.
Betty met Earle Francis Pelton and married him Jan. 16, 1946, after his return from World War II. Two children were born to this union. During their marriage they worked together cutting pulp and helping both their parents with farm chores until Earle began working in the Twin Cities for Bridge Builders. They enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and were involved in the local snowmobile club.
After Earle died in November 1972, Betty met Curtis Edward Soens. They were married in Ely, Minn. They lived near Hinckley, Minn., on a farm and raised sheep and vegetables to sell. When Curtis died in May of 1993, Betty moved back to Danbury to be closer to her family. She had been ill for many years and was housebound most of the time until her death.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Earle; second husband, Curtis; brothers Herbert (in WWII), Carl and Willis; great-grandson; two nieces and one great-niece.
She is survived by daughters Linda L. (Willie) Jorgensen and Vicki L. (Gerald) Koenen, both of Danury; grandchildren Tammy J. (Mike) Jones, Dresser, Brian C. Jorgensen, Ginger L. Koenen and Jennifer A. Todd) Kern, all of Danbury; great-grandchildren Andrew and Amber Jorgensen, Ciara Koenen and Merissa and Dustin Kern; brothers John W. Smiley, Oregon, Douglas E. (Bonnie) Smiley, Earl W. (Laura) Smiley and Robert D. (Linda), all of Danbury; sisters Dorothy M. Terzini, Webster, Nell L. (Bill) Rosen, Kentucky, Mary E. Davis, Danbury and Ruth D. (James) Drizzel, Pennsylvania; 16 nieces and nephews; 34 great-nieces and nephews; five great-great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Jan. 7 at the Danbury United Methodist Church in Danbury with Andrea Snithback officiating. Music was provided by organist Joanne Zillmer and soloist Julie Macke. Casketbearers were Gary Soens, Brian Jorgensen, Mike Jones, Todd Kern, Wayne Talmadge and John Mercer. Interment was held at the Danbury Cemetery in Danbury.
The Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster, assisted the family with arrangements.

 | Beverley Anne Summers Summers, Beverley Anne (Valkonen, nee Giles), of Lambton Shores, Ontario, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at her home in Lake Valley Grove, at the age of 80.
Beverley is now reunited with husbands Allan Valkonen (d. 1983) and Steve Summers (d. 2013). She will be greatly missed by her 7 children: Kim Dean, Mark Summers (Norma), Lisa Key (John), Mark Valkonen, Heather Kundapur (Dave), Lesley Loughlin (Steve) and Laura Summers; her 11 grandchildren: Peter Mayer (Miranda), Matthew Mayer (Amy), Melissa Martin (Stephen), Jennifer Dean, Rachel Dean, Gregory Key, Lauren Key, Ryan Key, Madison Loughlin, Carah Kundapur and Alexander Kundapur; her 5 great-grandchildren, Austin, Gwen, Logan, Tessa and Riley; her 3 brothers, Harold (Rosalyn), David and Donald (Roxie); and by many more cousins, extended family and beloved friends.
Beverley’s commitment to family and friends was only surpassed by her love of her cats. She had a passion for building relationships and found great pleasure in giving back to her community, volunteering her time to so many worthy causes. Beverley could always be counted on to be there.
Visitation will be held at DENNING’S OF FOREST, 9 James Street South, Forest, Ontario, on Thursday, October 3rd, 7pm - 9pm and Friday, October 4th, 9am - 11am. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Denning’s of Forest on Friday morning, starting at 11:30am.
Visitation will also be held in Toronto at the CHURCH OF CHRIST THE KING, 475 Rathburn Road, Etobicoke, Ontario, on Friday, October 11th, 6pm - 8pm and Saturday, October 12th, 10am – 11:30am. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Christ the King on Saturday, starting at 12pm. A family interment will take place at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to organizations to which Beverley volunteered her time for many years: Victim Services of Sarnia-Lambton or Contact House Food Bank, Forest, or the charity of your choice.

Beverly L. Knight, formerly of Monroe NY, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. She was 80 years old. The daughter of the late Alphonse A. Plank and Meta Ellen Brooks, she was born on February 13, 1936, in Goshen, NY. She married Robert W. Knight in Atlantic City, NJ, on January 10th 1957. Beverly was employed at Highland Telephone Company as an Operator and later in the Building Maintenance Department for Frontier Communications of New York.
Noted for her library of cookbooks and her baked apple pies, she opened her kitchen to everyone. She was never too busy to bake a birthday cake. Her smile brightened up a room along with a keen sense of humor, a helpmate to her friends and family. She enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City and dining with good friends. Her fondness and love for animals included her beloved dog, Annie Rooney. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and also a member of NJ Coalition on Woman and Disabilities. She served as sunshine coordinator of the Coalition.
Survivors include sons: Jack L. Knight and his wife Gia of Goshen, NY and John S. Knight of Fort Lauderdale, FL.; daughters: Ruth A. Stack and husband Roy of Jackson, NJ, and Jan M. VanHage of Warwick, NY. Brothers: Robert Plank and wife Dot of McHenry, IL., Larry Plank and wife Nancy of Port Royal, SC, and Stuart Plank of Freehold, NJ.; grandchildren: Dariel Stack, Bryson Cooper, Rachael Knight, Carly Knight, Timothy Stack, Derek Knight, Brianna Cooper and Gabriella Knight; great-grandchildren: Aalijah Knight, Carmella Ferraro, Owen Goldbaum and Noah Williams. Beverly was predeceased by her son Robert W. Knight Jr. and her husband of 50 years, Robert W. Knight.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30th at Smith Seaman and Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 1st in the Funeral Home.
