The Horrible Death of Mrs. H. E. Wiley, an Estimable Woman of Cayuga
CAYUGA, N.Y. May 9.?About 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon, the neighbors of H. E. Wiley were startled by hearing a scream issuing from his home. Upon investigating, they found Mrs. Wiley completely enveloped in flames and before they could be extinguished her clothing had been completely burned from her body. Medical aid was at once summoned and everything possible was done to alleviate the suffering of the unfortunate woman, but after twelve hours' of intense suffering, she died at 1:20 this morning. Mrs. Wiley had, but a few minutes before the accident, been out in the garden burning brush and it is generally believed that a spark from the burning brush had lodged in her dress and had burst into flames after she entered the house. Mrs. Wiley was in her 80th year and was unusually active for one so old; She was a most excellent woman. Besides her husband, H. E. Wiley, she leaves four sons, H. S. Wiley, of Wiley & Co.; Chauncey, Theodore aud William, and two daughters, Mrs. William Finney of this place, and Mrs. A. H. Smith of New York city. The funeral services will be held from her late home tomorrow afternoon.

Five-Year-Old Was Playing On Bridgeport Road Last Night
DRIVER IS NOT BLAMED
Mishap Second Child Auto Fatality In Twin City In Four Years
Lloyd Vincent Holland, five year old son of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Holland, 51 Bridgeport road, Waterloo, was killed, probably instantly, when struck by a car near his home shortly before 8 o'clock last night.
The motor fatality, Acting Chief of Police El C. Morean said today, is the first one of a Waterloo child since June, 1934, when Dolores Pache, four-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pache, Ezra avenue, was struck by an auto on King atreet north, and died of injuries. The last fatal street accident in Kitchener involving a child was four years ago this month, according to Chief of Police Wm. Hodgson's records.
Severe Head Injuries
While playing with other children on the street, Lloyd was crossing from the west to the east side of Bridgeport road when struck by the car of Samuel Meyers of St. Clements, proceeding north. The mishap occurred just south of the driveway to his home.
Apparently struck by the front of the car, probably the right front fender. the child suffered terrible head injuries, which are believed to have caused instant death.
The injuries comprised a fracture of the skull, a depressed fracture on the left side of the head, a broken jaw and a broken nose. There were no fractures of the limbs.
Dr. Wm. Geiger, was called and the boy was rushed to the Kitchener-Waterloo hospital. He was dead upon arrival.
Acting Chief of Police Moreau, who investigated, said no charges had been laid against the driver. Coroner Dr. A. L. Wellman stated an inquest would be held at the Waterloo Town Hall Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
No Playgrounds
The child is survived by his parents, one brother and three sisters, Douglas 8, Reta, 14, Cavell, 10 and Dorothy 6.
The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2.30 from the Letter. and Dreisinger Funeral chapel, Waterloo, to Waterloo Mount Hope cemetery for interment. The remains will rest at the chapel until the time of the funeral.
Following the accident, the father was bitterly reproachful of the inadequacy of playground facilities in Waterloo for which he had appealed to council previously for the safety of children, reflecting that his own son had now been a victim.
"I've nothing against the driver," he said.
