Springfield - Marsha A. (Bushey) Shappy, 68, of East Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. She passed into Eternal Life at her home with the care and comfort of her loving husband by her side. She was born in Burlington, Vermont on Independence Day, July 4, 1954, a daughter of the late Milford W. Bushey and Eliza J. (Knight) Simard. She was raised in Vermont, graduated from Norway High School in Maine in 1972, moved back to Vermont and then spent the next twenty years with her husband, Bruce, while he served in the military, before moving to Springfield in 1992 where she lived the remainder of her life. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, but above all, shopping. One of her greatest joys in life was decorating for all of the holidays, especially for Christmas. Marsha will be fondly remembered by her favorite term of endearment, "Excuse me...what did you just say?" Most of all, she loved spending time with her loving family. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Bruce B. Shappy. They were married at Saint Mark's Church in Burlington, Vermont on June 30, 1973 and they were blessed with over 49 years of happiness together. She also leaves her loving daughter, Marie "Dani" Shappy of Springfield; her three cherished grandchildren, Andrea N. Townsend, Breanna M. Ousley and her husband, Courtney, and Phillip B. Townsend; her five cherished great grandchildren, Kaden, London, Charlie, Demarius, and Cori; her six dear sisters, Marda Bushey of Nevada, Marian Rainville of Palmer, Margie Bushey-Grenier of Agawam, Ann Douglas of Springfield, Sally Fett of East Longmeadow, and Yvette Simard of Florida; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her dear brother, Milford "Duffy" Bushey; and her dear sister, Mary Jane Kooren. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 3:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. Her burial will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
