 | Norm Byers Norm Byers died peacefully, after a battle with cancer, on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at North Bay Regional Health Centre. He was 80 years old.
Norm was the beloved husband of Joyce (Stockill) of Powassan and much-loved father of Stevan Byers (Susan), Wayne Byers (Holly), all of Powassan and the late Tammy Byers (1972-1999). He will be lovingly remembered by two grandchildren: Brandi (Davin) and Justin (Michelle) and two great-grandchildren: Avery and Kieran. Norm was predeceased by his parents Liz (Restoule) and Enos Byers.
Norm was the dear brother of the late Beatrice Hurley, Blanche Pollock (Rick Vollick), Lula Gray (Wally), Norma Rowland (Royce), Clinton Byers (Carol), Norm?s twin sister Nancy Frederick (late Gene), Susan Cossar (John) and the late Lincoln Byers.
Norm was retired from a long career with Dupont Canada in North Bay.
Norm?s family will receive visitors at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Cremation will follow.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 453 Powassan, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society are suggested.

 | Norma Whiton Waterford - Norma (Decker) Whiton, 90, of Waterford, died Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Sava Healthcare at Bridebrook in Niantic.
She was born in New London, Aug. 5, 1925, the daughter of Ernest and Emma (Beebe) Decker. She married T. Robert Whiton, in the First Congregational Church, New London, on Nov. 20, 1948; he survives her.
A graduate of the former Williams Memorial Institute, Class of 1943, Norma had been employed as a receptionist and secretary in the office of Dr. David Ginsberg and the law office of Copp, Kolelsky and Berall. She was a life member of the Lawrence + Memorial Ladies Auxiliary with over 3000 hours of volunteer service.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Gary Whiton and his wife, Inga Whiton, of Luneburg, Germany and Peter Whiton of Norwich. She has five grandchildren, Caroline, Megan, Jeffrey, Alice and Cecilia; and a great-grandchild, Maya. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at noon Saturday, March 26, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic. There will be a calling hour from 11 a.m. till noon, prior to the service.

Paradise resident Norman Leslie Haigh died Friday at Feather River Hospital at the age of 76.
He was born Feb. 11, 1909, in Los Angeles and moved to the ridge in 1972 from Pico Rivera. He was a carpenter for 51 years.
He is survived by his wife, Lila of Paradise; two sons, Blaine C. of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Gilbert L. of Las Vegas, Nev.; one daughter, Sandra J. Ehmann of Phoenix, Ariz.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, Local arrangements were handled by Paradise Chapel of the Pines Mortuary and Crematory.
