 | Ozias Banning's House (c. 1864) in Clayton, Ontario 2836 Tatlock Road, Clayton, Ontario
Ozias Banning (1837-1908) originally from L'Orignal, Ontario; was a merchant and Clayton's postmaster (the latter for 17 years) between 1860 and 1904. He purchased Lot 22, Concession 2, Ramsay, Lanark County for his home and adjacent general store in 1864 from Hiram Bellamy, who had 150 acres awarded to him in 1837.
In the summer of 1864, Ozias Banning bought a small parcel of this land, measuring just over one acre, for $500. He built a house and general store here. Upon the death of Ozias Banning in 1908, the property was willed to his wife Catherine and daughter Annie Bertha Banning. In 1925, Catherine Banning died leaving Annie the sole owner, but she too died just five months later. By will, Alice Eva Catherine Bowland, a sister to Annie, was granted the property. When Alice Eva Catherine Bowland died in 1943, the land passed to her brother, William Banning. In the following year he sold to Kathleen Halpenny and Mary Lansdowne for $1500.

 | Paisley Abbey, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland In 1307, Edward I of England had the abbey burned down. It was rebuilt later in the 14th century. A succession of fires and the collapse of the tower in the 15th and 16th centuries left the building in a partially ruined state. From 1858 to 1928 the north porch and the eastern choir were reconstructed on the remains of the ruined walls.

 | Parker Perry PARKER PERRY - The death of James Parker Perry at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. King Sr., at Nipissing on Nov. 21st, has removed another pioneer from our midst. Mr. Parker suffered a stroke of paralysis six years ago and has been an invalid ever since.
He was born at Sydenham, Ont., Feb. 5th, 1861, and was in his 80th year. He married Eliza Jane Ayerst at Parham in August 1878, and she died in June 1929. Eleven children were born to this union, of whom five have died, the youngest son, William, making the supreme sacrifice in France in June 1918. Two sons and four daughters are left, namely: George Perry, of Nipissing; Hiram Perry, of Cedar Springs, Mich.; Mrs. Anna King, Nipissing; Mrs. Maude Stark, Shingleton, Mich.; Mrs. Pearl Atwood, Rockford, Mich.; and Mrs. Nellie McCallum, Emsdale. There are 40 grandchildren and 83 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. A brother, John Perry, lives at London, Ont.
Mr. Perry came to Nipissing Township and settled at Hotham about 56 years ago, and except for about 8 years spent in Michigan he has always lived in the township, so he was one of the township's oldest settles.
The funeral was held on Friday from the home of Mrs. King to the Nipissing Cemetery, and was largely attended by neighbours and other friends. Portius Johnson and Geo. Paige, ministers of the Followers of Christ, had charge of the service. The pallbearers were six grandsons - Joe, Simon and William King Jr., and Alex, Levi and Enos Byers.

 | Paroisse du Sacré-Coeur, Toronto, Ontario In 1887, the new congregation didn’t have a church yet and used a chapel in St. Michael’s Cathedral to hold French services. The next year, they bought an old Protestant church on King Street near Sackville Street. The current building at Carlton and Sherbourne Streets was constructed in 1937.
