Conceived in 1928 and finished in 1931, the span is the longest bridge in Rochester at 981 feet. It is 190 feet in height and 106 feet wide.

BARRE: Victoria M. LeMay, 95, of Springfield, died early Sunday morning, Dec. 10, 2006, at the Menig Extended Care Facility in Randolph.
She was born Nov. 29, 1911, in Barre, the daughter of Lewis & Olive (Martin) Damon. She was raised in Barre and attended Northfield Seminary, receiving her teaching degree from Wheelock College. She was married to Madison F. Boyce, then Raphael J. LeMay, both of whom predeceased her. She taught piano and voice and directed church choirs in Barre, Montpelier and Springfield. She was instrumental in the formation of public kindergarten in the Barre school system. She moved from Barre to Springfield in 1950. She was a member of the Unitarian-Universalist Church in Barre and Springfield, as well as the Springfield Community Players, Descendants of the Mayflower and the Altrurian Club.
Survivors include her son, Madison L. Boyce of Randolph; daughter, Patricia LaPointe of Lakeview, Mass.; and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Dr. Raymond Martin, Hildred Martin and Proctor Martin, and one grandchild.
Memorial Services in Springfield will be announced at a later date. There are no calling hours. Private burial will be at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Springfield Community Chorus, Springfield Community Players or to the church. Arrangements are by the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.

Vineta (Lucas) 'Skeeter' Jensen, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville where she has been residing for the past year. Vineta was born October 9, 1909, in Preston, Iowa. She was the only child of George Lucas and Mabel (Purinton) Lucas and came to Estherville in 1914, with her parents. She was educated in the Estherville Schools and in business school in Chillicothe, Missouri. She was an employee of the Emmet County State Bank during the "famous" bank robbery in 1930. On November 11, 1930, she was married to Herman A. 'Jack' Jensen and to this union two daughters were born. Judith Lynne (Mrs. George Shadle) and Roxanne Lucas (Mrs. John Powers III). Vineta had four grandchildren, Randy Shadle, Susan Shadle Oster, Robin Powers Kinning and Nicole Powers. There are also six great-grandchildren surviving. Vineta was predeceased by her husband of 80 years and her granddaughter, Nicole Powers. Vineta was a member of First Presbyterian Church, member and past officer in P.E.O., D.A.R. and Eastern Star.

Vinton Wardner, born in Ontario Co., 1839; a former resident of Belmont, died at the age of 72 years, at the home of his daughter Mrs. Warren Adams in West Almond on Tuesday afternoon. The funeral will be held at the West Almond Baptist church. Mr. Wardner was a Civil War Veteran, having served as a Private of Capt. J. J. Dennison's Company "M", 21st Regiment of Pennsylvania County Volunteers. He is survived by three sons and one daughter.

Viola J. Auler, 79, Kokomo, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2015 at her home. She was born May 18, 1936 in Curtisville, IN to Wilson Mack and Viola Rachael (Pennock) Sherman.
A 1955 Markleville High School Graduate, Viola went on to work in department 88 for Delco Electronics retiring in 1991 after 27 years of service. She loved cats and was known to be ?the cat lady?. Viola also enjoyed traveling, gardening, antique collecting, camping, photography, collecting and making dolls and typing on an old Royal typewriter. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of a bowling league in Alexandria, IN. In her youth, Viola was involved in 4-H which lead to her support of Purdue University. She was also involved in Lapidary Arts and jewelry making as well as a member of the Wildcat Creek Geological Society. These interests lead her to serve as secretary for the Midwest Federation of Mineralogical and Geological Society.
She is survived by a son, Richard William Auler Jr; daughter, Theresa J. Auler; grandchildren, Jill Elayne Auler, Amber Nicole Auler and Rickhara ?Khara? Marie Viola Lee Auler; great-granddaughter, Khalyna Prush; sister, Isabel Reynolds; brother, Ira Wilson Sherman; and ex-husband, Richard William (Mary) Auler Sr.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Dennis Roy Auler.
Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 West Lincoln Road. A graveside service will follow in Elwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Viola R. Bangle, 51, route 2 Elwood, died at 8 o'clock Wednesday night at Mercy Hospital following an illness of several months.
Born March 24, 1908 in Battle Creek, Mich., she was the daughter of Ira and Fannie Pennock. She was married to Clarence Bangle August 20, 1943, who survives. She was a member of the Christian church in Battle Creek.
Survivors include the husband, two daughters, Mrs. Isabel Reynolds, of Rigdon, and Mrs. Jane Auler of Alexandria, two sons Ira Sherman, Elwood, and Mack A. Sherman, Windfall, two step-children, Arthur Bangle, Tipton and Mrs. Nora Mull, Elwood, two brothers, Leo Pennock, Athens, Mich. And Milo Pennock, of Battle Creek, Mich.: a sister, Mrs. Lydia Smith of Battle Creek, Mich.: ten grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren.
The body is at the Copher and Fesler funeral home.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at the Copher and Fesler home. Rev. J. E. McCoy of the East Main Street Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be made in the Elwood City cemetery. Friend may call this evening at the funeral home.

Viola M. Burnap, 83, Community Nursing Home, Potsdam, formerly of Winthrop, died Friday evening at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam.
Mrs. Burnap was a homemaker and a member of Brookdale Wesleyan Church.
Born in April 1916, in the town of Stockholm, daughter of Harlie and Martha Price Steenburg, she attended Brasher-Stockholm schools.
She married Herald E. Burnap on Oct. 2, 1936, at Massena with the Rev. Walter Page officiating. Mr. Burnap , a longtime farmer in the Winthrop area, died May 21, 1977.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Duane and Carol Ann, Winthrop, and Leon and Patricia, Norfolk; two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty Lecuyer, Winthrop, and Ellen and William Young, South Butler; two sisters, Arlene Woods and Sylvia Quinville, both of Massena; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A son, Larry; two brothers, Arthur and Harlie Steenburg, and a sister, Isabelle Smith, died before her.

Viola Brockway Talmadge, of Virginia, formerly of Branford, died Saturday November 29, 2014. Viola was born in Essex, CT, March 17, 1926, daughter of the late Henry and Edith Green Brockway. She was a former member of the First Congregational Church of Branford.
Viola is survived by her children, Charlene Massey (David), Edith Vailette-Northam (John), Charles W. G. Talmadge, III, Douglas N. Talmadge, Gregory H. Talmadge (Robin), Craig G. Talmadge (Linda), and Todd N. Talmadge (Hillary); her brother Robert Brockway; 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Kuropat, and her brothers, Newell, Russell, and Marvin Brockway, and her former husband, Charles W. G. Talmadge II.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, and are invited to a funeral service Friday morning at 10:00 in the First Congregational Church of Branford.
