 | Wendell Tolles Tolles, Wendell J. passed away on Tuesday morning, April 21, 2015 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born on February 9, 1930 in Kalamazoo, the son of Leo and Alice (Carson) Tolles. Wendell was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. On June 4, 1954, he was united in marriage to his best friend and fishing partner, Joanne M. Tolles in Kalamazoo. In addition to fishing, Wendell enjoyed traveling with Joanne; camping/fishing at Interlochen State Park for over 50 summers and 23 winters in Florida. He was employed by Kalamazoo Public Schools for over 30 years and was a member of Sunnyside United Methodist. Surviving are two children, Douglas (Robyn) Tolles of Kalamazoo and Diane (Steve) McLeod of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, Jessica (Parker) Hornsby and Ian McLeod; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Hornsby; and several cousins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 25, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek Street. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Sunnyside United Methodist Church.

Wesley M. Hyland, 79, of Belvidere, passed away peacefully, Thursday, November 3, 2016, after a long illness. Born March 22, 1937, in Belvidere, son of Herman S. and Floretta I. (Langdon) Hyland. Wes was a lifelong resident of Belvidere, and a graduate of Belvidere High School, Class of 1955. He went on to graduate with honors from Worsham College of Mortuary Science, where he served as the president of his class. He married the love of his life, Nancy Butz on July 31, 1955, in Belvidere. Wes was a licensed funeral director, and was the owner of Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, since 1955. Wes was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, and was active on numerous boards and committees, including "Coming Together", which built the new church facility that was dedicated in 1996. He was a member and past president of the Northern Illinois Funeral Directors Association, a member of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. Wes was elected to five terms as the Boone County Coroner from 1968-1988, and was a former member, past president, and chairman of the "Disaster Preparedness Committee" for the Illinois Coroner's Association. He was a charter member and long-time treasurer of the Boone County Republican Club, and organized the annual Republican "Steak fry" for many years. Wes was a former member and "Ambassador" of the Belvidere Chamber of Commerce, as well as being the past president of the Belvidere Jaycees and the Belvidere Noon Rotary Club. As a descendant of an early Boone County settler, he was an avid genealogist. Wes was a life member of the Boone County Historical Society, and was extremely proud to be a former member, past president, and longtime office holder, of the Sons of the American Revolution. He enjoyed traveling and the outdoors, which included fishing and camping. Wes along with his wife, served as a catalyst and organizer of numerous group trips, both domestic and foreign. He and Nancy were "Snowbirds" who traveled to the southwest for the winter, and took other vacation trips and weekend excursions with his 5th wheel trailer, where they traveled to all 50 of the United States. Wes is loved and missed by his wife of 61 years, Nancy; daughter, Delores (Wayne) Hyland-Mrozinski of Boulder City, NV; son-in-law, Garry Roden of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Samuel and Sarah Roden; sister, Mary (David) McEleney of Normal, IL; brother, Paul (Shelley) Hyland of Crystal Lake, IL; nieces, Jennifer Parry and Kathy Vize; nephews, Andrew and Bradley Hyland; brother-in-law, Wayne Butz of Belvidere. He is preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Marilyn Roden.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1045 Belvidere Road, Belvidere, IL 61008, with Rev. Allan Buss officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m., Monday, November 7, 2016, at the church, with a visitation from 10 to 10:45 a.m., before the service. Burial in Carmen Cemetery, Rockford. Memorials may made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.

 | Wesley Schulde Wesley Alois Schlude, 96, beloved husband of Stephaine R. (Rittlinger) Schlude of Ellington, died Saturday (December 13, 2014) at Meadow Brook of Granby. He was born in Hartford on July 14, 1918 son of the late, Louis C. Schlude and Edna (Warner) Schlude; living in Hartford a short time and in Broad Brook a short time, moving to Ellington. Wesley worked for Pratt & Whitney in Production Engineering for 28 years, retiring at an early age to run his farm. Pratt & Whitney sponsored him at UConn for two years. He was schooled in Ellington and Rockville High School Class of 1936. He was a member of the Ellington Congregational Church and the Better Age Club. Wesley and his wife did a lot of traveling in their camper covering the East Coast and Canada. His family is one of the original settlers (Warners) of the Town of Ellington having settled in 1760. The house they lived in was built by one of his ancestors. In addtion to his wife, Stephaine, he leaves two sons and their wives, Robert W. Schlude, his wife, Christine Schlude of Moultonboro, NH and Leonard W. Schlude, his wife, Cathy Schlude of Bloomfield, CT; two grandchildren, Marianne Schlude DeCarli, her husband, Christian DeCarli and Glenn R. Schlude, his wife Michelle Charette and a great granddaughter, Jennah Schlude all residing in Ellington.
His family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. Funeral and burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Ellington Congregational Church, 72 Main Street, Ellington or Ellington Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 71, Ellington, CT 06029.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Pat Kirkpatrick following a brief illness. Pat is survived by Shirley, his loving wife of thirty-nine years; his son John (Helen) Kirkpatrick; four grandchildren, David Skistod, Tracy Mundell, Jason Kirkpatrick and Ashley Kirkpatrick; and six great-grandchildren. Wilbert King in his 58 years of age was the beloved husband of Ruth (nee Halvorsen) King for 37 years. Loving father of Douglas and his wife Kim, David King, Tammy and her husband Steve Knarr all of Kitchener. Dear grandfather of Chelsea Ruth Ann King, Leandra Rose Knarr and step grandfather of Stephen, Matthew, Brandon, Brittany. Dear brother of Edna King of Kitchener and Bernice Lariviere and her husband Ben of Hanmer. Wilbert will be missed by his nieces and nephews. Wilbert was the owner operator of Community Lawn and Snow Services for 28 years.
