 | AnnaMarie (Hazelwood) Huset, Evansville, WI (1961-2015) AnnaMarie (Hazelwood) Huset, Evansville, WI (1961-2015)
September 21, 1961 - February 18, 2015
AnnaMarie (Hazelwood) Huset, age 53, of Evansville, WI, passed away at home on Feb. 18, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Sept. 21, 1961, in Concord, CA, to Robert Hazelwood and Barbara (Schultz) Hazelwood. AnnaMarie married David Huset on Jan. 31, 1987. They have one son, Anthony Huset. AnnaMarie grew up in Houston, TX, where she attended St. Thomas More Grade School and graduated from St. Agnes Academy High School in 1980. AnnaMarie graduated from Duke University with a B.S. in Geology in 1984, then went on to graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, receiving an M.S. in Geology in 1987. From 2006 until 2014, she worked at the University of Wisconsin Soil and Plant Analysis Lab as a Research Specialist.
AnnaMarie cherished her family and was very proud of her son, Anthony. She loved the natural world and all animals, especially her dogs and other pets. AnnaMarie had a green thumb for gardening, treasured her houseplants, and nurtured an impressive orchid collection. She enjoyed all types of exercise from martial arts to zumba, and yoga to Tai Chi. AnnaMarie loved travel and reading, and had a lifelong desire to learn. One of AnnaMarie's friends said, “It's not about the bucket list, it's about the lives touched.” And AnnaMarie was a special person who touched the lives of so many. She inspired a great web of friends and family who admired her quick wit, intellect, enthusiasm for life, and zest for learning. She fought her almost four-year battle with ovarian cancer with quiet strength and never lost her sense of humor along the way. She will be remembered as a caring, kind, and compassionate woman.
AnnaMarie is survived by her parents, Robert and Barbara Hazelwood of Georgetown, TX; her husband, David of Evansville; and her son, Anthony, who is attending college at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. She is also survived by three brothers-in-law and their families in northern Wisconsin; and an uncle, two aunts, and many cousins in California.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, Feb. 28, at ST. PAUL'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Evansville, with Father Kevin Dooley officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the CHURCH. Memorials may be made to the Best Friends Animal Society or The Nature Conservancy. WARD-HURTLEY FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family.
