Dorothy Hildebrand December 27, 1908 - April 16, 2008 NORWICH - Dorothy L. Hildebrand, wife of the late Bernard V. Hildebrand died on April 16, 2008 at the Norwichtown Rehab and Care Center. She was born in New London on December 27, 1908, daughter of the late Martha Melissa Champlin and Orrin H. Banning. She lived most her life in Norwich. Mrs. Hildebrand worked as a Braider Tender for the Turner and Stanton Co. for 18 years before retiring in 1940. She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Norwich and an avid bowler in St. Marks Senior Bowling League. Mrs. Hildebrand married the late Bernard V. Hildebrand on November 19, 1938. She is survived by her sister Ruth Duffy of Noank, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Orrin Banning, Jr., Raymond Banning and Louis Banning and her sisters, Mildred Banning and Viola Worden. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 18, 2008 at the Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St. Norwich at 1:30pm with visitation beginning at 1pm. Dorothy J. Leabo, age 86, of Malone, NY., passed away early Thursday morning, April 20, 2017, at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital, in Weston, FL., with her loving family by her side.
Born in Rome, NY., on July 30, 1930, she was the daughter of the late George and Viola Banning Trego. She was a 1948 graduate of Forest Port New York High School.
On December 30, 1953, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Leabo, Sr. He predeceased her in March of 1983.
Dorothy was employed as a teachers aide at St. Joseph?s Academy, in Malone. She was also a cook and housekeeper for the clergy at St. John Bosco Church, in Malone. She later worked for Com-Links and the Co-operative Extension in Malone. She retired several years ago. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, and was an avid New York Yankee fan.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter in law, Frederick and Hilda Leabo of Malone, NY., and Mark Leabo of Erie, IL., and by four daughters, Rhonda DeBruhl of Davie, FL., Brenda Leabo of Malone, NY., Pamela Leabo of Schenectady, NY., and Angela Leabo of Malone, NY. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by two sons, Raymond Leabo in 1983 and Kenneth Leabo, Jr., in 2011, and by a grandson, Nicholas Leabo in 2012.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home, in Malone. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Billy Bond officiating. Burial will take place in the Fairchild Cemetery in Remsen, NY., on Friday at 12 p.m.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Disabled American Veterans.

Dorothy Jean VanderWeele of Boca Raton, Florida passed away on February 18, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with heart disease. Born Dorothy Jean Gensler in Kalamazoo, Michigan on January 14, 1927, she was the daughter of Jerome K. Gensler and Margaret (Musselman) Gensler. She married the love of her life Cornelius (Buck) VanderWeele in 1948 and raised two daughters. Their marriage was beautiful and punctuated by trips all over the world. The family lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Columbia, South Carolina, Bernville, Pennsylvania, Greenville, South Carolina and Naples, Florida. In 2009, Dorothy and husband Buck moved to St. Andrew?s Estates South in Boca Raton, Florida where she made many new friends and enjoyed the activities there.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Cornelius (Buck) VanderWeele, daughter Sandra Gregersen and her husband Thomas of Delray Beach, Florida, daughter Sally VanderWeele and her husband William Boardman of Hingham, Massachusetts, granddaughter Kristen Najmabadi and husband Jon of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and grandson Brian Gregersen of Boynton Beach, Florida. Dorothy was pre-deceased by her younger brother, Richard Bruce Gensler.
Dorothy enjoyed cooking, entertaining, caring for her family, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She was known for her grace and generosity and was loved by everyone she knew. Dorothy was an activist early in life. She was the first female Student Council President of Kalamazoo Central High School in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1944. (This was the high school where President Obama delivered the commencement address in 2010.) She was the PTA President for the Kalamazoo school system and an early supporter of adequate funding for education. Her TV appearances on behalf of the school system led to her being asked to host a women's daytime television show, an early form of the present day talk show. She was a golfer and won several country club championships. She was an active volunteer and the president of the volunteers group for the Shriner?s Hospital in Greenville South Carolina and a docent for the Historic Columbia Foundation in Columbia, SC. She was a member of the Friends of Lake Keowee Society (F.O.L.K.S) where she organized annual educational events for school children to learn about the importance of protecting water quality. Her last years were devoted to her family and friends. They will miss her loving and courageous spirit.

Dorothy Knapp Spain, 84, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012, at her home in Auburn, AL. Ms. Spain had lived in Auburn since 1985.Ms. Spain was born at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. She spent part of her childhood in Hawaii and Long Beach, CA. After her mother died, Ms. Spain lived with her father, Brig. Gen. Robert D. Knapp (USAF), and his relatives before attending high school at Fairfax Hall boarding school in Waynesboro, VA. Ms. Spain attended the University of Texas in Austin. In the summer after her junior year she met Col. Thurlo M. Ashton (USAF) while visiting her father in Argentina, where he was stationed after World War II. She married Col. Ashton in Buenos Aires and his military assignments took them from Argentina to Illinois, Texas, Panama, and the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. Ms. Spain lived in the Northern Virginia area from 1960 through 1985 and worked for the Travelers Insurance Company before starting a successful real estate career. She married Fredric Lee Spain 14 April 1972 (div 29 Oct 1982) and together they expanded Holley Realty from one office to multiple offices of Holley Hargett and Spain Realty. She was also active in the Virginia Republican Party. In 1985, Ms. Spain moved to Auburn to help care for her father. She continued her real estate career with Cary-Pick Realty before working for Auburn University, retiring from the College of Veterinary Medicine in December of 2010. Ms. Spain enjoyed travelling and frequently attended military functions across the United States with her father, including meetings of the Order of Daedalians and the 57th Bomb Wing Association. Ms. Spain was also a lifelong sports fan and especially enjoyed rooting for the Auburn Tigers, the Atlanta Braves, and the Washington Redskins. Ms. Spain is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Ashton of Winter Park, FL, and a son, Michael Ashton of Marietta, GA ; five grandchildren, Kellie Williams, Joe Williams, Kristi Davis, Katy Ashton, and Max Ashton; and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 10, at Auburn United Methodist Church, 137 S. Gay St., Auburn, AL. Dorothy Leah Cobb

Passed away peacefully surrounded by Ken, Myrna, Carson and Leslie on Friday, January 4, 2019 in her 94th year. Dear mother of Kenneth (Myrna) Cobb and mother-in-law of Brenda Cobb. Loving grandmother to Leah, Bradley, Blair (Amanda), Graham (Melissa), Martin, Natalie and six great grand children. Survived by her sister-in-law?s Ruth Hutchison and Mary Hutchison. Predeceased by her loving husband Frank Cobb, her son Raymond Cobb (Brenda), her brothers Roy, Gaius, Bart, Steve and sisters Mina, Fern and Ruth. Left to mourn her loss are numerous family members and friends.
Dorothy was born near Bancroft in 1925. She made her choice to serve god as a young person. She met Frank and they were married in 1951. Dorothy and Frank made their first home at Clappison Corners, where their two sons, Ray and Ken were born. In 1960 they moved to Guelph and built a new home on Arkell road, where they lived until 1990 when they moved to Huntsville. After 19 years in Huntsville, Dorothy and Frank returned to Guelph and shared a home with Ken and Myrna. For the past 4 years Dorothy has required nursing care and spent her last days in Wellington Terrace. Dorothy and Frank were married for 67 years, enjoying the privilege of a meeting in their home for many of those years. Dorothy continued to faithfully serve God until the end of her days.

Dorothy M. Carter, Hornell, NY
Dorothy M. Carter, 102, of 16 Scott Street, passed away Sunday (January 29, 2006) at McAuley Manor.
Born in Hornell,. May 12, 1903, the daughter of Glenn W. and Susie Boyce Murdock, she had resided in Hornell all her life.
She was active in the Lincoln School P.T.A., serving as President in 1956 and 1957.
She spent many years as an active member of the Hornell Council of Camp Fire Girls. She was instrumental in starting a summer recreational program for the youth for the City of Hornell during the 1950's. That program was still in operation in 1993.
She was a Republican County Committee Woman for many years serving as Treasurer in 1963, as well as president in 1965.
Mrs. Carter was a member of the former Spencer United Methodist Church and a charter member of the WSCS (Woman's Society of Christian Service), and served as secretary for 8 years and President for 5 years from 1964-1969. She was nominated for "Who's Who In United Methodist Women", for the period of 1950-1984. She was also a member of the former Sally Marquis Circle.
She and her late sister, Miss Norma Murdock, were honored in 1980 by the Hornell Area Womens Republican Club as that organizations "Women of the Year".
Mrs. Carter and her late husband, Donald, won the Lincoln Day Award in 1982, and were presented an inscribed silver bowl.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald Carter in 1987, her sister Norma Murdock in 1995 and her son William Carter in 2005.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Virginia (Ed) Shields of Ladylake, Fla, Norma (Frank) Brooks of CA, and Judith (Eladio) Amoresof Fla., her son Donald (Mary) Carter of Illinois, 14 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren.
The family will be present to receive friends from 11 AM until 1 PM Friday at the BENDER-BROWN & POWERSFUNERAL HOME, 354 Canisteo Street, Hornell where funeral services will follow calling hours at 1 PM. Rev. Beth Kottemann will officiate.

Born November 7, 1925 in Boyd's Settlement, Ontario passed away peacefully July 20th, 2012 in Nanaimo, B.C.
She lived most of her working life in Ontario, and in her retired years she was a resident of both Coombs, and Nanoose Bay, BC.
Her husband Cecil predeceased Dorothy. Sons, Dave and Dennis, survive her. Also predeceased by one sibling and survived by eight siblings.

Dorothy Pennock, 93, of Ames, died Monday, Nov. 6, at Bickford Cottage in Ames. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Helser Chapel, Collegiate Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Dorothy Pennock was born Oct. 17, 1913, in Kewanee, Ill., to Frank and Carrie A. (Nobiling) Ladd. She married Paul Pennock Sept. 14, 1935, in Davenport. She had been an Ames resident since 1995, having previously resided in Davenport for 28 years and Racine, Wis., for 32 years.
She was a homemaker and member of Collegiate Presbyterian Church, PEO Chapter HO and American Sewing Guild.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn (Gordon) Bultena, of Ames; one son, Paul R. (Mary) Pennock, of Greenwood Village, Colo.; and four grandchildren, Laurie Henry, of Nevada, Steve Bultena, of Cannon Falls, Minn., Kevin Bultena, of Webster City, and Paige Rader, of Denver, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 2000; one brother; and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Collegiate Presbyterian Church.

Dorothy R. Meece, 95, of Tallula passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013, at Sunny Acres Home. She was born on August 5, 1918, the daughter of John Arthur and Mable B. (Helm) Pennock. Dorothy married Carroll Meece on December 5, 1942, in St. Louis, Mo.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Jane (Buddy W.) King of Tallula; grandchildren, David King and Doug (Chris) King, both of Tallula, and Donna Martin of Petersburg; great-grandchildren, Logan and Austen King of Tallula, Jessica (Thomas) Rakes of Athens and Kameron Martin of Petersburg; special brother-in-law, Robert Daniels of Pittsfield; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special family at Sunny Acres Home. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Carroll; sisters, Mary F. Freeman and Rosa Mae Daniels, both of Pittsfield; and brothers, Lyndle and Stanley Pennock.
Dorothy was a member of the Tallula Christian Church, Tallula Senior Citizens, and the Tallula American Legion Auxiliary Post #545. She was a military wife during WWII and drove a jeep for high ranking military officers. Apart from being a homemaker, Dorothy also worked as a server for the New Salem Lodge. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. She was also very proud to have four generations of family to serve on the Tallula Fire Department.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 7, 2013, at the Tallula Christian Church with the Rev. David Poeschel officiating. Dorothy Sandall Murtland nee Adamson December 28, 1930 December 3, 2010 Dory passed away peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul's Hospital on the 3rd of December, 2010. Dory was born in Saskatoon on December 28, 1930 to Herbert and Margaret Adamson. She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Kelly Murtland (Weldon Figgitt) of Saskatoon, SK, Tim Murtland (Karen) of Coldstream, BC; and grandchildren, Madison, Mackenzie, Emily. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Wesley Murtland. Her brothers and sister, surviving and deceased are: Jack Adamson (Deceased) wife Rita and second wife, Betty (Deceased), Ed Adamson (Deceased) wife Dorothy of Saskatoon, Muriel Wilders husband Gerald of Ligonier, PA, Blake Adamson wife Eileen of Saskatoon, Ray Adamson wife Margaret of Cambridge, ON, Ross Adamson wife Delphine of Richmond, BC, and sister-in-law, Fran Murtland. Her feisty nature and sense of humour made her a fun person to be around. Dory loved to attend events with her friends. She took pride in being the best dressed whenever she went. She loved being outdoors whether it was tending to her beautiful yard or going for long walks at the river with her constant companion Shadow. Dory was young at heart and always looking for something exciting to try such as parasailing, hot air ballooning or white water rafting. Camping trips to Northern Saskatchewan were always a summer family tradition that Dory looked forward to. She had fun being a Grandma to her three dearly loved grandchildren, Maddie, Mack and Em. They enjoyed many sleepovers when they were younger and loved having campfires in the backyard, watching Mr. Bean and eating Grandma's most delicious sandwiches. Special thanks to all the Palliative Care staff for the amazing care and compassion Dory received while at St. Paul's Hospital. Dorothy Thomas Seipold, 92, of Hamden died January 24, 2016 of natural causes. The wife of John W. Seipold, also of Hamden, she was a resident of Whitney Manor Rehabilitation Center for the past 8 years. Born July 29, 1923 to the late Raymond and Dorothy (Noble) Thomas of West Haven she lived in that city for over 60 years. A 1940 graduate of West Haven High School she went on to do clerical work for several companies in New Haven including C.S. Mersick and Prudential Insurance. She also performed professionally around CT and NY in swing and polka bands, playing a mean saxophone and clarinet. In later years she held jobs at several retail stores in Hamden and was a member of the Spring Glen United Church of Christ. In addition to her husband of 61 years she leaves behind her son, Paul T. Seipold of Hamden and her grandson, Paul W. Seipold of East Haven. She was predeceased by another son, James Seipold and her brother, Edwin Thomas. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Friday morning Jan. 29, at 11 am at BEECHER & BENNETT 2300 WHITNEY AVE. Douglas Devlin - Obituary
Passed away peacefully at home in Etobicoke on Sunday, November 16, 2014, at the age of 83. Doug was predeceased by his wife Marie, his brother Keith and in-laws John and Olive McKee. He will be dearly missed by sister-in-law Joan Devlin as well as nieces Carol (Bruce) Stonehouse, Lynn Payne, Ellen (Ed) Giertuga, Nancy (Christopher) Dares and nephews Ron (Karen) McKee, David (Cathy) Devlin and his many much-loved great-grandnieces and grandnephews who brought joy to his world. Every family member enjoyed his "squishy" hugs, his gentle nature and sense of humour. Summers were spent in Muskoka, where his hospitality included much laughter, "Dougie" burgers, playing boisterous card games and racing around the lake in his latest boat. The Boy Scout camp on the lake introduced him, not only to Marie, his loving wife of 53 years, but an ever-widening circle of friends. While in Toronto, he enjoyed sailing, watching car races and going to the theatre. One of his biggest pleasures was to go shopping with others in mind. Doug showed great love and compassion for all creatures. One of his longtime favourite companions was Smokey the parrot. Then for the last 20 years, his comrade was Charles the cat. In the working world, he contributed to the success of Somerville Belkin Industries in Toronto, where he was employed as a die maker for over 30 years. Douglas L. Hughes

Douglas Lloyd Hughes died peacefully with family by his side at North Bay General Hospital on Wednesday, March 24, in his 63rd year.
Doug Hughes was the beloved husband of Audrey (Nadrofsky) and the loving father of Penny Bakke (Brent), Cheri Reid (Brad), Brandi Tricker (Dean), and Ben; proud grandfather of Shawn, Shane, Miranda, Megan, Emily, Madison and Riley; dear brother of Myrtle Grawbarger (Ireton), Vera Keith (Bill), Elmer Hughes (Donna), Cora Nichelchok (Al), Roy Hughes (Barb) and the late David Hughes and Edna Nucara; son of the late Archie and Mabel Hughes.
He is survived by brother-in-law Vic Nucara, other relatives and friends.
Douglas was born in North Himsworth Township on June 28, 1941. He was the seventh of eight children of Mabel (Anderson) and Archie Hughes.
Doug was raised in the Brule on the family homestead. He attended school at Sharps Corner and after graduating he went to work with his father in the bush and on the farm.
Doug met Audrey Nadrofsky at Audrey s home and they married in Powassan. After living in North Bay, then on the Alsace Road, Doug and Audrey settled on the farm and enjoyed farming, bee keeping, woodworking, making maple syrup, playing guitar and working at the sawmill.
Time spent with his family was a priority. Fish fry s at the log cabin, camping at Perch, fishing and hunting together will be cherished memories of the family.
Doug will be remembered by many for his love of music and playing the guitar. He really enjoyed socializing with everyone who dropped by, and all were welcome.
Douglas was baptized as a Jehovah s Witness in September of 1976 and faithfully lived his life according to his beliefs.
His favourite expression was, Don t bother going if you re not going to get there on time.

Douglas Richard Boyce was a natural leader whose winning presence allowed him to take control of various situations with ease. Equipped with a clear and calculating focus, he possessed a tough-minded, ?take charge? attitude. He had the ability to make even routine situations seem exciting, and he was at ease with the role of playing problem solver. Douglas always sought out the scene of where the action was. Sociable, analytical and pleasant, Douglas was an individual who enjoyed life?s challenges.
Douglas was born on September 28, 1927 in Mariposa, California to Pat and Pauline Boyce. Always able to express himself well, Douglas possessed strong interpersonal skills. He was optimistic in his outlook on life and was able at all times to be open and direct in his communication. Armed with a great wit, Douglas was raised to be accepting of others and to implement a strong personal work ethic.
Blessed with a balanced attitude, Douglas was able to relate well with others. His occasional role as family mediator gave him the opportunity to ease tense situations when they occurred. Douglas was raised with one sibling, a sister, Gini. Douglas had a strong desire to be treated fairly and would readily offer others the same fairness in return.
As a young child, Douglas showed his creative ability in many ways. He was outgoing and animated. Douglas enjoyed new activities and pursued a variety of interests. He took part in football and softball and in his spare time he liked to go hunting.
In 1970 Douglas exchanged wedding vows with Sumalee Sae-Ng at the Court House in Thailand. Douglas was attentive to Sumalee's feelings, and he charmed Sumalee and others with his gift for being able to give freely and generously. A good listener with an engaging personality, Douglas was able to bring pleasure and unexpected humor to the relationship.
Very much like a kid himself, Douglas identified with the inquisitive and creative side of his children?s personalities. He was able to direct his energy and spontaneity towards helping his children acquire added common sense skills. Douglas was blessed with one son, Nimit. They were also blessed with two grandchildren, Ethan and Yonnapaht.
Douglas was a flexible worker who was able to draw the best from others around him. A persuasive individual who was quick to make necessary decisions, Douglas?s strengths included being able to think on his feet. He could be a leader who sought impact for his decisions. Gifted with an incredible ability to read body language, Douglas was able to positively manipulate situations and motivate others in order to get a task completed. He was a good negotiator who enjoyed new challenges. Douglas could multi-task, and he was endowed with entrepreneurial spirit, allowing him to think beyond standard norms when it came to resolving issues in his work environment. His primary occupation was in swimming pool maintenance where he was employed for 35 years.
Douglas was an Air Force veteran. Douglas was a cool thinker who could handle himself well in a crisis. He was in the Air Force Control Tower. Douglas saw action for one year during the Korean Conflict. He achieved the rank of Master Sergeant and received several awards including a Bronze Star. He showed leadership qualities and could make tough decisions when he was called upon to do so.
Douglas enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. He had something of an artistic flair in many of the things that he did. He put this creativity toward all of his pastimes. His favorite pursuits were flying an airplane. He was content to enjoy his hobbies alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Because he liked to take risks, Douglas was a perfect match for athletics and exercise. He was enthusiastic and confident about these activities. In high school, Douglas played football and softball. Douglas was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed watching his favorite events whenever he got the opportunity. Tops on his list were football, baseball, and college football.
Travel and vacations were experiences that Douglas truly enjoyed. He preferred to seek out excitement wherever he went and he was partial to vacations that were casual and laid back with an atmosphere of ?live and let live.? He was willing to leave his plans open and flexible, just in case something more interesting came along. Favorite vacations included fishing, camping, and trips to Thailand.
Douglas was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. He and his dog were best friends for 11 years.
When Douglas?s retirement finally came in 1971, he was well prepared. He used logical analysis of his retirement options in order to ensure his retirement would be fulfilling. Still, he was able to easily adapt to possible changes and enjoyed just having fun and being relaxed. His new life involved relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada. In retirement, he found new pleasure in playing softball.
Douglas passed away on August 24, 2015 in Las Vegas after fighting a brave battle against cancer. He is survived by his wife, Sumalee; son, Nimit; daughter-in-law, Noly; and grandchildren, Ethan and Yonnapaht. Services were held at Palm Mortuary - South Jones. Douglas was laid to rest at the Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV.
Douglas was the kind of person who could win others over easily. A concrete communicator, he relied on his senses to increase his involvement and awareness of others. He was always able to provide amusing repartee to his friends and acquaintances, offering a seemingly endless supply of quips, anecdotes, jokes and stories. If Douglas had a theme song written about him, it might well have been ?Don?t Worry, Be Happy.? He enjoyed his life and the experience of living it. Augusta, GA- Dr. Albert Ayerst Carr, beloved physician, husband, father and grandfather died Wednesday, July 18th, 2012 surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Lanford Carr; four children Lynn Davis (Mitch), Bert Carr (Tricia), David Carr, and Stephanie Woodward (Taylor), and grandchildren Lauren and Trey Carr; Chesley Lemons (Jason) and Doug Carr; Keenan, Victoria, Abby and Chai Davis; Nan and Reed Woodward. Also surviving are his sister Natalie Matthews, sisters and brothers-in-law: Bonnie and Tom McNeal, Gayle and Bud Hudnall and many nieces and nephews.
Dr. Carr was born to Natalie Ayerst and Albert Carr in Richmond, Va on March 23, 1934. He grew up in McKenney, Va and graduated from Southside McKenney High School.
Dr. Carr graduated from the University of Virginia and the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Post graduate training took place at the University of Virginia, and three years in the Endocrine section of the Heart Institute at the National Institute of Health in Maryland. He returned to the University of Virigina to be chief resident of medicine. Following his residency program, he moved to Omaha, Nebraska to practice in the Department of Medicine at the University of Nebaska School of Medicine. In 1967, he and his young family moved to Augusta where he was chief of the Hypertension Section of the Department of Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia. In 1995, he retired from MCG and went into the private practice of medicine where he also continued his cardiovascular research.
He was a member of the Raven Society and Sigma Phi Epsilon at the University of Virginia and a member of Alpha Omega Alpha at the University of Virginia School of Medicine; Chief of Staff of Trinity Hospital; past president of the Richmond County Medical Society, past president of the Georgia Society of Internal Medicine. He received the Paul Harris Award. He served many years as a delegate to the Medical Association of Georgia. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon. He was a member of Augusta Country Club.

Dr. Aubrey H. Smith (Hubert), 90, of West Lafayette, died at 12:20 PM Monday, March 11, 1996, in Home Hospital. Born Oct. 3, 1905, in Westchester, Nova Scotia, Canada, he married Doris Beebe in 1930 in Old Lyme, CT; she survives.
Dr. Smith received his bachelor's degree at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, and completed his master's and PhD in mathematics in 1932 at Brown University. He moved to West Lafayette from Providence, RI, in 1936. He was with the mathematics department at Purdue University for 37 years, retiring in 1972. He also taught at Brown University and Swarthmore University in Philadelphia.
Dr. Smith was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in West Lafayette, the American Math Society, Mathematical Association of America, Indiana Academy of Science and Sigma Phi fraternity. Mr. Smith was an avid photographer and took many pictures and slides of Purdue, Oregon, Canada, and Florida. After retirement, Mr. Smith took up painting, sometimes recreating landscapes on canvas from pictures taken years earlier. He was a very talented artist and his paintings adorn his nephew's home in Oregon.
His wife is the only immediate survivor, but he is survived by two nephews and their wives, Gerald and Judy Brown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and Laurie and Mildred Fulton of Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada and by nephews from his wife's family: One in Oregon and one in Montana. Dr. Donald R Davidsen passed away unexpectedly at Rochester General Hospital on Saturday January 10, 2015 with his wife and children by his side. Born in Flushing NY in 1936 to the late George and Emily Davidsen, he later moved to Greenwich, NY and graduated from high school there in 1953. He attended the New York State College of Agriculture at Cornell University and received the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1959. After graduation, Don joined the US Air Force where he attained the rank of Captain while serving in Alabama, and Aviano, Italy. After returning to the states in 1964, he opened a large animal practice in Canisteo where he practiced until 1987. During this time, Don served as a member of the Canisteo Central School Board, as a Steuben County Coroner and as a Steuben County legislator and vice chairman. He also chaired the Legislature's Agriculture, Industry and Planning Committee, which designed and directed the construction of it's new 10 million dollar county office building which he was very proud of. A street in front of the office "Davidsen Way" bears his name. He was elected to the Steuben County Hall of Fame in 2002.
In 1986 Don was elected to the New York State Assembly. While in the assembly he served as the ranking minority member of both the Assembly Health and Agriculture Committees. In 1995 Don was appointed Commissioner of Agriculture and Markets for the State of New York, a position he held until his retirement in 1999.
Don enjoyed oil painting, building models of tall ships, traveling the world, but mostly his family. Don was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth Warner and his brother Roger. In 2005 Don married Valarie Smith who survives. In addition, Don is survived by his brother George (Nancy) Davidsen, and three children. Karen (John) Polechetti, Kristine (Bruce) MacKellar, Richard (Loriann) Davidsen. Eight grandchildren, AJ, Christa, and Mia Polechetti, Daniel, James, and Michael Dineen, and Matthew and Aleah Davidsen, as well as Seven Step-children, 11 step-grandchildren and One Step-great grandson.
Don was a charter member and past president of the Hornell Area Art's Council. A past president of the Canisteo Rotary Club, Director for the Finger Lakes Association, member of the Steuben County Industrial Development Agency, member of the America Legion, Morning Star Lodge #65 F&AM of Canisteo, and the First Presbyterian Church of Canisteo. He was a very active member of the Steuben County Republican Party until his death and was a great resource to aspiring politicians everywhere.
The family will be present to receive friends at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce Street, Canisteo on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A masonic memorial service will follow calling hours at 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, South Main Street, Canisteo, on Thursday at 11 AM. Rev. Daniel Pickering will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.

Dr. Dudley Davis Kimpton, 90, of Wadsworth passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 30, 2014. He was born February 15, 1924 in Akron to the late Walter B. and Anna Kimpton.
Mr. Kimpton was a very smart man, he was the Valedictorian for all of Summit County, graduated from Case Western University and received his PhD from the University of Illinois. He was retired from PPG and had also been a chemistry teacher. Dudley was a very kind man and will be dearly missed by his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine L. (Durbrow) Kimpton.
Dudley is survived by his children, Paul (Anita) Kimpton, and Pamela (Robert) Crouch; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Debra, Karen and Thomas; and six great grandchildren.

Dr. Horace Wardner of LaPorte, a prominent surgeon both there and in Illinois, died Friday afternoon, aged seventy-six. He was owner of the Interlaken Sanitarium at LaPorte from 1896 to 1900. He served in the regular army during the civil war.

Dr. Horace Wardner, a former well know physcian and politician of this section, died at his home in La Porte, Indiana, Friday, aged 76 years. Dr. Wardner went to Cairo at the close of the civil war in 1865 and remained here until 1878, when he was tendered the office of superintendent of the Southern Illinois hospital for the insane at Anne, by Governor Cullom.

Dr. Robert I. Ayerst , a retired gynecologist and obstetrician, died Friday of kidney failure at his home. He was 71.
Dr. Ayerst was born in Wilkinsburg, Pa., and lived in New Orleans the past 40 years.
He was a graduate of the Japanese Language School at Yale University, a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Trinity College of Duke University and Duke University School of Medicine.
He began his career as an intern at Duke Hospital and was a research assistant at Cornell Medical School in New York.
He completed his residency at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and Roosevelt Hospital.
He served on the staffs of Sara Mayo Hospital, Touro Infirmary, East Jefferson General Hospital and Doctor's Hospital. He also taught at Tulane University's medical school.
He was a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and was a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He was a member of the Jefferson and Greater New Orleans obstetrical and gynecological societies and helped establish the Jefferson society. He was head of gynecology at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was also a president of the American Cancer Society.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Byrd Ruffin Ayerst; a son, Robert I. Ayerst Jr. of Germantown, Tenn.; a daughter, Elizabeth Ayerst Farber of Metairie; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Church Episcopal, 1329 Jackson Ave. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.
Burial will be private.

Dr. Thomas Blanch Bloomfield was born in New York City, November 17, 1846. He was the son of Judge William Bloomfield and Catherine Van Mater Croes-Bloomfield. Paternally, he was related to former New Jersey Governor Joseph Bloomfield; maternally, he was a direct descendant of the early Dutch settlers.
In his younger days, Dr. Bloomfield attended NYC schools, and at the age of seventeen he entered Rutgers College in New Brunswick, N. J. He received the degree of Doctor of Medicine from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He held many professional positions, including those at the General Hospital for the Insane at Middletown, Conn., and the Epileptic Hospital on Blackwell?s Island, New York.
On July 16, 1876, he married Miss Nellie B. Luther of East Haddam. Following the wedding Dr. Bloomfield and his wife moved to Saybrook for two years and then to Westbrook where he remained until his death on February 17, 1905.
Dr. Bloomfield was a physician who was in love with his profession; he was well-respected and well-loved by his patients. He strove to heal the sick and comfort the sorrowing, often under the most trying circumstances. He never refused a professional call, and went as cheerfully to the penniless as to the rich. Many of his patients would proclaim: ?Dr. Bloomfield was so kind to us when we were in trouble.?
He was considered an exceptionally clever diagnostician and his medical skill will long remain a by-word in Westbrook and its vicinity. Dr. Bloomfield was frank and out-spoken, and had many critics but none could cast any slurs on his professional ability.
At the time of his death, Dr. Bloomfield was the Health Officer and Medical Examiner for his town and Examining Physician for all the leading Life Insurance Companies doing business in the section covered by his practice.
He was a member of the Episcopal Church and it was largely through his efforts that the present church edifice in Westbrook was built.
Dr. Bloomfield was survived by his widow and seven children: Catherine Van Mater Croes, of New York City, James Brownlee of Ivoryton, Conn., William, of St. Louis, Mo., Thomas Blanch, Jessie, Eva and Luther, who were living at home with their mother. He was predeceased by his daughter Grace.
Dr. Bloomfield was interred in Cypress Cemetery, Westbrook. Connecticut, USA.

Dr. William J. Hoover March 26, 1928 ? July 6, 2010 at 82 years old, Bill passed away in Colorado Springs, Colorado, after suffering a stroke. Bill was the beloved husband of Ellen Hoover for over 60 years. He will be forever remembered by his adoring children Mike Hoover, Jane Bartlett, and Laura Thiel; treasured grandchildren Emily Kiefer, K.C. Gillispie, Brian, Clay, and Mike Bartlett and Grace Thiel; prized great grandchildren Ashlyn, Clarissa, Adriana and Kamryn; loving sister Mary Council and caring in-laws Bobi Hoover, Bob Bartlett, Dave Thiel, Dustin Kiefer, and Lisa Bartlett, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him.
Born and raised in Champaign, Illinois, Bill was one of two children born to the late Scott and Dorothy Hoover. After graduating high school in Champaign, Bill went on to receive his Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Illinois, majoring in Food Technology with minors in Business Administration and Mathematical Statistics.
As President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Institute of Baking for 18 years, Bill left his mark worldwide. His worked enhanced food safety, processing, distribution, and nutrition at home, in the U.S., and abroad. Bill's work and research helped improve the nutritional value of food in 67 countries.
Prior to his time with A.I.B., Bill was Director for the Food and Feed Grain Institute and Head of Kansas State University's Department of Grain Science and Industry. Throughout his distinguished career, Bill served on numerous boards and committees in areas as varied as he was dynamic. He was honored numerous times throughout his life including Kansas Scientist of the Year, 2007 inductee into the Baking Hall of Fame and Citizen of the Year in Manhattan, KS, in 1981.
Bill loved being with his family and friends. He was an avid golfer, dedicated follower of all Kansas State and University of Illinois athletics, and enthusiastic violinist. He inspired all who knew him with his wit, integrity, and charm. Bill was especially talented at bringing smiles to the faces of those around him with his trademark sense of humor.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on July 10, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 612 Poyntz Ave., Manhattan, KS 66502, with Reverends Nancy J Kollhoff and Ben Duerfeldt officiating.

Driver of Dump Truck Pronounced Dead at Scene
Scott County Sheriff's crash investigators are trying to determine what caused the driver of a dump truck to lose control of the vehicle and crash Friday evening.
Investigators said the crash occurred on Scott Park Road, also known as Veterans Highway, about 5 p.m. Scott Park Road is Old U.S. 61. The crash occurred about two miles north of Park View.
Investigators said the driver, who is from DeWitt, Iowa, was northbound when the vehicle swerved onto the east shoulder, then went into the ditch. When the truck came out of the ditch, it rolled several times.
Skid marks could be seen for several hundred feet south of where the vehicle came to rest in the middle of the roadway.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine if a medical condition contributed to the crash, or if the driver was killed by the crash.
