POWASSAN (Staff)— William James King of R.R. 1 in Nipissing Township lost his life Sunday afternoon because of a leaky boat and the inability to swim.

While on the return trip from a mine shaft they wanted to see, the boat which had taken on water since the beginning of the trip, finally sank about 100 yards from the shore.
Mr. King disappeared under the waves while Mr. Hutchens, who is a poor swimmer, managed to make it back to shore.
With the help of his wife Frances, he was able to pull Mr. King to the shore and apply mouth-to-mouth resuscitation but it was too late.
