- Lieutenant Fremont W. Walton Honored Way Out In Oregon
Salem, Ore., Aug 25. - A patriotic party was given Thursday evening in honor of Lieutenant Fremont W. Walton, who recently returned from the first training camp of officers at the San Francisco Presidio, by his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. R.D. Barton, 598 North Seventeenth Street, assissted by Mrs. F.S. Barton, an aunt of the guest of honor. Lieutenant Walton is only 21 years old and besides being an officer was given his sheepskin as a graduate of the Oregon Agricultural College last June. He is a brother of Dr. R.W. Walton who is a graduate of Elizabethtown High School. Lieutenant Walton left to-day for American Lake after a short furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Walton, 790 North Seventeenth Street.
Red, white and blue asters lent an appropriate decorative scheme in the rooms. Games were enjoyed earlier in the evening and a program of music was given. Besides ukulele and guitar selections, Miss Lulu R. Walton gave readings and Miss Grace Elizabeth Smith and Mr. Allen Manning sang. Later dainty refreshments were served with a cake covered with tiny fluttering flags.
The guests were Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Smith, Miss Grace Elizabeth Smith, Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Walton, Lorena A. Walton, Dr. and Mrs. R.W. Walton, Mr. and Mrs. F.S. Barton, Miss Helen Mercer, Miss Gregson, A. McClean and Allen Manning.

Fremont W. Walton died Feb. 21 at Yavapai Community Hospital, following an auto accident. He was born Dec. 30, 1895 in the state of New York and moved to Prescott 10 years ago from California. He lived at 511 Pioneer Drive.
Mr. Walton was a graduate of Oregon State University, served in the National Guard in Oregon and in the US Army.
He was a member of the Aztlan Lodge No. 1 F & A.M. in Prescott, past master of the Masonic Lodge in Exetor, Calif. He attended Trinity Presbyterian Church here and was a former member of the Lions Club in California, very active in the American Legion Post 94 in Exetor, and was the third-vice commander in the state.
Survivors include: his widow Gladys, of Prescott; a sister, Mrs. Rena Sturgeon of Corvalis, Ore. several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Memory Chapel at 2 p.m. tomorrow with Dr. Donald Watkins officiating. Masonic and full military graveside services will be held at Prescott National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Memorial Chapel.
