BYERS, Irvin E. - After a courageous battle with cancer at North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site, on Wednesday September 3, 1997, in his 81st year. Irvin Byers, beloved husband of Hilda (Smith), Callandet. Loving father of Barbara Ellen (Richard Campbell), Saskatoon and Robert Irvin (Barbara Ann), Callander. Dear brother of Gordon Byers, Powassan; Esther Johnson, Callander; Frances Radkey, Galt. Loving grandfather of Jo-Ann Barber (Glen), Saskatoon, David Snoddon (Cathy), North Bay, Lisa Drinkwalter (Trent), North Bay; Jamie Byers, Powassan; Ken Byers (Tracy), Bonfield; Michael Byers (Amber), Callander, and great-grandfather of Devin and Natasha Snoddon, Robbie and Megan Barber and Sarah Byers. He will be fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Irvin was predeceased by his parents John Alexander and Florence Ellen Byers, his brothers William, Levi, Enos and Alex Byers and two sisters, Eliza Grawbarger and Mary (Clarke) Turcott. The family will receive visitors at the Paul Funeral Home in Powassan (705-724-2024) today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Lions Club Tribute Service at 7 p.m. Funeral service in the chapel on Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment Powassan Union Cemetery.
