ANDERSON, S.C. - George Alfred Walton, age 88, of 518 Richland Creek Road, Anderson, died on Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at his residence.
Born in Huntington, Vt., on Jan. 25, 1920, he was a son of the late Harold Henderson Walton and Sarah Hamner Walton. He was a retired contractor, a former Cub Scout Leader and Member of The Grange. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne Elizabeth Bell Walton; sons, Harold Walton, George Walton Jr., Lance Walton, and stepson Donald Godsoe; daughters, Kathryn Palmer, Judith Gottshall, Terri Lynn Thibault, and stepdaughter Debbie Brookfield. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and many greatgrandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in his hometown of Huntington.
