- Apprentice carpenter in England UK. First convicted for running away from his master. He then stole some Carpenters tools, and because it was his second offence he was transported to Tasmania around 1830 (age 22) on the ship "Surrey". He married when he had served his term.
According to Tasmanian records, John Pickering's birth year was 1813; married in Hobart 1844 to Ann WATCHORN b. 1827. One son Matthew Edward b.1848.
