Obituary & Death Notice |
| Elmer Allan Towns ELMER ALLAN TOWNS
The community of Carr was sadly shocked by the tragic death last Tuesday, night of one of our stalwart young men, Elmer Allan Towns, who perished in the fire at the Bolton home at Arnstein, which also took the lives of three others-Mrs. Bolton and two grandchildren.
Elmer was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Towns, and would have been 19 in March. He will be missed by everyone who knew him and to whom he endeared himself by his unselfish and cheerful disposition. Left to mourn the untimely passing of their beloved son and brother are the parents, five brothers-Everett, Bazil, Herbert, Harold and Orvil, and two sisters, Dorothy (Mrs. Gordon МcKeen) and Mary.
Banking the tiny casket which contained the remains of the unfortunate young man were floral tributes from the family, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Fryer, Mr. and Mrs. Levi Byers, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Swalwell, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Farley, Mr. E. Farley, Don and Dorcas Swalwell, Mrs. E.E. Edwards, Bette Scanlon, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Brown, and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Brown. Cards of sympathy were received from Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Barber, North Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Stan Titus, Huntsville; Shirley Kervin, Callander; Mrs. Harold Barber, Hotham; Mr. and Mrs. Carmen Howe; Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Lee; Miss Mabel Gigg; also letters of condolence from J. B. Lake, Mrs. R .A. King, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Byers and Mr. and Mrs. James White.
These tokens of sympathy and the presence of many relatives and friends at the large funeral evidenced the esteem in which Elmer was held and the sympathy for the bereaved family. The Rev. John Crook conducted the service. The pallbearers were Andy Towns, Jim Beatty, Walter Weller and Gordon McKeen. Interment was made in the cemetery at Nipissing.
