    The Auld Kirk was constructed in 1836 and used until 1864, when a new church, St. Andrew's, was built in Almonte.

    • Mrs William Harvey Scott
      A lifelong resident of Almonte, Mrs William Harvey Scott passed away at the Almonte Nursing Home on Friday, December 27, 1974, following an illness of two year's duration. she was in her 88th year.
      Born in Almonte on February 28, 1887, Mary Elizabeth Davis, she was a daughter of Samuel Davis and his wife, Mary Edmonds.
      She was married in Almonte on June 22, 1907, to the late William Harvey Scott. Mr Scott predeceased her 21 years ago on November 3, 1953. She was an adherent of Almonte United Church.
      Surviving are one son. Edward Davis Scott; a grandson David Scott; a brother William Edmond Davis, and a sister, Mrs Vera Carnahan, all of Almonte. Two sons, Kenneth Bethune and Harvey Arthur, are deceased.
      The funeral was held from the Kerry Funeral Home, 154 Elgin Street, on Sunday, December 29, at 2 p.m. with Rev Robert McCrea officiating. Interment was made at the Auld Kirk Cemetery vault to await burial in the spring.
      Pallbearers were David Scott, Mac Davis, donald Johnston, Ivan Giles, Allan Giles and Elford Giles.
