- RICHARD EVANS (1949) - Numerous relatives, friends and citizens gathered, on Thursday, November 24th to pay final tribute to Richard Evans, a life-long resident of the Pakenham district, who died at his home on Tuesday after a short, illness. Mr. Evans was born at Cedar Hill, the only son of the late George Evans and his wife, Mary Tomblinson. He resided on the homestead until 30 years ago when he moved to his farm, two miles from Pakenham village. He was in his 67th year, The funeral which took place from his late home to St. Mark's Anglican Church was conducted by Rev. Canon Carryer. Pallbearers were Messrs. G. Moreton, Horace Cavanagh, Mae Dodge, Ernie Millar, Clarence Raycroft and Lloyd Dickson. A host of beautiful floral tributes testified to the high esteem in which he was held by fellow citizens. Chief mourners are his widow, the former Christena Raycroft, two daughters, Edith, Mrs. Everett Hewitt, Pakenham; Christabel, Mrs. A. McCaffrey, Arnprior; five sons, George of Arnprior; Forbie, Minor, Bill and Kenneth of Pakenham and three sisters, Mrs. Robert Dickson, Pakenham; Mrs. Eddie Manary of Almonte; Mrs. Cain Cameron of White Lake and six grandchildren. Interment was in St. Mark's cemetery.
