She is also survived by 24 great-grandchildren, her sisters, Edith Elder and Grace Platt of Pilot Mound, and brother Sandy (Verna) of Winnipeg, sister-in-law Lilian Munro of Pilot Mound, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Nett was born on November 14, 1907 in the Wood Bay District. She married Wesley on November 7, 1928 and together they had nine children and lived on the family farm in the Pembina District. A few years after Wesley passed away, Nett moved to Pilot Mound where she purchased the Broadway Restaurant. She operated the Broadway for approximately 20 years. The Broadway was a very popular spot for young and old. Many will remember the French fries and good times enjoyed at the Broadway. Nett was very active in the ladies auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Fellowship Centre. Nett enjoyed her retirement in her newly built home on Fraser Avenue until she moved to Morden in November of 1988 to live in the Legion Seniors Complex. As her health diminished she moved back to Pilot Mound in February 1994 and resided at the Prairie View Lodge for the last eight years. Netts favourite past times included quilt making, ceramics, doing crossword puzzles, and playing bridge. Many family members were the fortunate recipients of her beautiful handicrafts - especially the quilts. The family would like to thank the staff at Prairie View Lodge for the excellent care and compassion given to their mother. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Bev Simpson on Monday, June 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Pilot Mound United Church. She was laid to rest next to Wesley at the Wood Bay Cemetery. The Pallbearers were her six grandsons, Kevin Morrow, Dennis Maxwell, Bruce Olsen, Brent Stiff, Jamie Morrow and Chris Hanks. Following the Committal Service at the Wood Bay Cemetery, a delicious lunch was served by the United Church Women Auxiliary. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to Prairie View Lodge in Pilot Mound.
